Battle of Algiers- A masterpiece

Post by bennyonesix »

Not surprisingly it is about Algiers and Battles. Told from the revolutionaries side but whew is it rough... one of my top 10 films (not just war either) but I just watched today. And the Criterion has super cool additions, get that copy.

I saw it in the early 80s on tv if I remember correctly.Black and white int it? The frogs won that war,but per usual got betrayed by the politicos (so now they`ve got a bit of a problem with north african slums in France instead.....).

Isn't this the one where an Algerian guide teaches a French soldier how to tell time in the desert?

History lesson learned early in life.
That was the famous 1st REP
FFL General Challe and French forces Generals Massu and Bigeard. Tough legends, especially Bigeard.
