Iran, Russia and China couldn't start their own SWIFT style network? Why wouldn't they try it? What do they have to lose if the Western World uses the SWIFT system to manipulate them? As the US and EU forces more people outside of SWIFT there is a pressure to create something else.

The dominance of the US Dollar depends upon it being accepted. Inside of the US it's a legal tender. Outside of the US, it's convenient.

Sanctions make the Dollar less convenient. We Americans are cutting our own throats in slow motion with this sanctions business.

Covid afflicts and kills kids with carditis at far higher rates, orders of magnitude higher, than vaccines. I want to save as many of our kids as possible, and it takes about a micro-second to do the math and figure out smart money (and lives) are on the vaccine.

Wonderful. Well spoken. Crimea had two referendum with 90 percent plus agreeing to join the Russian Federation. The NATO forces who harass Crimea should immediately withdraw from close proximity. We Americans, who respect Democracy, must lead the charge to respect the Democratic choices of the people of Crimea, just as we expected Serbia to respect the choices of the Albanian peoples of Kosovo.


The Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk people's republics had questionable referendum. We Americans owe it to Democracy to demand that the Regime that we imposed upon Kiev will respect a referendum conducted by those people. Part of this settlement would include ending eight years of daily shelling, sniping and other abuses of civilians. Naturally the Russians would have to guarantee good behavior of the people's republics.

I do hope, Nafod, that you're sincere about Democracy as rule of the people living in an area, and not whatever Washington, London and Brussels anoints as a "Democracy". I wouldn't want people here to think that you might be a Neo-Conservative.

Mess - the Salon article explains it well. Everything that has happened since, including about 3,000 dead civilians in East Ukraine and today's invasion, follows this foolishness in 2014.

Last fall the Ukrainians started massing up along the line of control Russia wasn't invading then. The Russians probably figured that Ukraine was going to bump off those two Republics. They foolishly went for Regime Change instead of peacekeeping.
