Aeropress coffee maker

Post by Shafpocalypse Now »

Makes a smooth, tasty cup out of cheap grind (Cafe Bustelo). Makes a really good cup out of a decent fresh ground bean.

Makes up to the equivalent of 4 espresso shots, so not for volume consumers.

Very smooth, have a lot of room to experiment with the parameters, but still get an exceptionally drinkable cup

At sweet maria's website they say even though it is awesome it does not make expresso. How close can you get to real esspresso? I got a moka pot and I am pretty happy with it's ability to make something espresso-ish, especially considering an esspresso machine will likely run around $1000.

It's pretty close, especially if you load up on the ground and use the steel mesh filter available, because you get the oils. I usually top it off with hot water and make americano.

It makes better espresso than my shitty Krups espresso maker.

I bought this thing four years ago. It makes a perfect shot. The pods are around .50 each. It can't be beat for home use. And you get a fucking magical little device to warm milk and make perfect froth if you want to do that. You can't fuck it up and it's so easy you'll shit yourself the first time you use it.

Shape only likes the Nespresso because when you go to the shop to buy the capsules the girls throw themselves at you like they want to give you a blow job. At least they do in Italy.

I got one today in a late Christmas delivery. I used Illy brand coffee and now know what you mean by smooth. Not quite as good as real esspresso, but considering I can do that in my house I am more than happy with this.

Jes. Jes eet ees.

Interested in the Aeropress. I have a decent home espresso machine (Gaggia) and lately have been using my French press almost exclusively. Aeropress caught my eye at a trendy food mart, but I couldn't pull the trigger on it. Might have to get it now.

Still using the aeropress daily. Or multiple times a day.

I picked up a cheap electric water kettle at TJ Max.

I sometimes miss the volume of drip coffee, but it's really hard to fuck up a cup if you've got the right beans.

Buddy of mine had one that he loaned me for a while. I liked it but had to give it back. I mainly use a Clever Pour Over.

I have been using this regularly also. Although I cut the suggested coffee use in half. For the really slight decrease in coffee quality it is worth it to have your coffee last twice as long.

Been using an aeropress daily for 3 months now. Fantastic. If you haven't got one yet, do so.
I'd say on the bottom of that self-actualisation pyramid shit, proper decent coffee is in there with wifi, tits, food and shelter

There's an app for iPhone which helps with timing

I don't get crazy, but I like a pseudo pour over with a mesh metal filter instead of the paper dosk

2 scoops of fresh ground coffee
Pour over 200f water slowly so it blooms, wait a second, then fill, stirr a bit.

I let it drip for 1:00, then refill with water. Let it drip for anothe 30s then press

The other, easier one is

Invert, 2 scoops coffee, 200f slow, bloom, then fill. Stir 3-4 times, let sit for 2 minutes, plunge.

Makes a strong tasting cup, esp with the stainless screen.

There's probably an app for this too.

Thanks Shaf.

Turd, bet you don't need an app - you know right where to stick that. Although you may be a little loose to feel it unless they make one "supersized." :finga:

I do, but I wouldn't want it back when you're done.
