Batman: Dark Knight Returns Pt. 1

Post by Turdacious »

Batman comes back after 10 years of retirement. Based on the first half of the graphic novel. Very close to the original. Maybe a little too close, the film came across a little choppy at times. Peter Weller is great as Bats. Not as good as Year One, but still very good. Very 80's feel to it. Overall very enjoyable, and worth watching for Batman fans. Available on Netflix.

Honestly, I didn't like it as much.

I think they really missed the dark tones of the graphic novel.

Part 2 (not sure if you've seen it) is darker and better. Not as good as the graphic novel (or close), and not as good as the Year One adaptation. The Zombie Reagan was just weird. Still paced way to much like the graphic novel, rather than being adapted for film. The Joker arc would have been better as Part II, with the Supes ark as Part III. Still enjoyable though.

I haven't bought part 2 because of my mild disappointment with part 1. I may check it out when I get back on a Batman kick.
