Born and Bred: Messican Boxing Doc

Post by Holland Oates »

Born and Bred is a feature-length documentary film chronicling the lives of a new generation of young boxers fighting for their place in the American boxing capital of Los Angeles, where Latino immigration is surging to a historical breaking point. At the heart of the film is the story of 15-year-old twin brothers in their last two years in the tough ranks of amateur boxing where boys are made into men and Olympic dreams are won and lost.
Pretty good. Streaming on Netflix.

It ain't great but it's good. Clean production, real personal look at two boys making the step up from silver to golden gloves.

I don't have netflix, so I'm probably going to go buy this shit.

Then I'm going to go on a long binge watching old Mexican boxing greats, buying DVDs, watching amateur fights from the 70s and 80s, and then posting a bunch of threads again here on IGx.

I don't recommend buying it. It was good but not worth multiple viewings.

Javier Molina was the brother that made it to the Olympic team and turned pro first.

Yeah, definitely going to end up buying it now. I don't know a lot about the Molina brothers, but enough I'm going to want to watch this flick.

Endless boxing threads coming all through March. Probably most of April, too.

Streaming Netflix is getting pretty dialed that shit in. Their logarithms for what people are going to like are getting better and better.

Netflix will become self aware in 2014.

I'm so glad they don't offer porn. I just wish I could set up separate accounts for my wife and kids so I wouldn't get recommendations based of their horrible view patterns.
