2 movie reviews: Goon & Snowpiercer

Post by Shapecharge »

Saw "Goon" a couple of weeks ago. Seann William Scott plays a not too bright hockey player who can take a punch and dish one out as well. This movie cracked me up in so many ways. I haven't just outright laughed out loud from a movie in a long time but this one gave me plenty of belly laughs. This is where I got the "can I make lemonade in your chocolate factory" line that I can't stop saying to people. There's a couple of Russian hockey players that you'll die over they are so fucking funny. This movie gets an enthusiastic two thumbs in with a cheek spread.

Okay, this next one is not fucking funny at all. It's one of those end of the world deals with a pretty heavy message and is well cast. In an effort to turn the tables on global warming it's decided to shoot some type of chemical/particulate into the atmosphere...it works, only it turns the world into an unlivable frozen wasteland. One super genius/mega-billionaire knows it won't work and builds a train that runs on a perpetual motion motor of his design. It runs on a track continuiously...what's left of humanity is on the train but just like a train there's first class, second class, steerage etc. Those at the rear of the train are living like it's a zillion times worse than the Warsaw ghetto during WW2. It's actually a Korean film but in English. The production is every bit as good as Hollywood. It star is Captain America, Chris Evans. Those in the back of the train decide to try to take over the train. I don't want to say too much more other than there's some pretty heavy shit going on and some battle scenes are well done and gory. No jump spinning back kicks in this one. I'm gonna give this one two thumbs in but without the cheek spread because of its heavy content and well, you just have to go along with the train deal.
