Netflix streaming

Post by Polo Tomasi »

So I just downloaded Netflix and had my son set it up--too tricky for my old brain. Anyway, I'm looking for good suggestions as to what to watch. I'm more of a movie guy; I don't like to do the binge thing that often comes with a srteaming TV show. But I'm open to whatever.
So what have you all found to be interesting. Particularly movies that I may not have heard of.

Ken Burns documentaries
Longer form limey tv shows (they're like movies)

Never tried Netflix but totally agree with you about Amazon Prime (although overall the concept has been flat out excellent for us).

What video/movie services are good?

Don't sleep on this recommendation. One of the best movies I've seen theatrically in the last few years. Really, really good fun movie.

I just got Amazon Instant Video, and no it's not EZ's new business. Watched the documentary The Best Worst Movie, which is about the making of Troll 2, universally acknowledged as the worst movie ever but now a cult favorite. The director was Italian, the scriptwriter spoke English as a 3rd language, and the actors all thought they were showing up to be extras in the movie. One of the actors was on day release from a mental hospital. Funny and wistful.

My favorite line from the Troll 2 movie...

Mom: "C'mon, kid, sing a song. You know, sing that song that I like so much."
Kid: "Ok...row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream..."

Rare Exports is outstanding. Check the foreign film selections, like Turd suggests there are many good serial offerings esp. out of the BBC.
