Novel written from the perspective of a Star Trek TOS 'red shirt.' Shit is hilarious and not bad as a sci-fi novel.

Do they die in droves? Do they think shit like "Stay close to Kirk, hope to God he does not tell you to go check it out "over there" by himself?

KIRK: " Lt. Jones, go behind that rock and tell me what you see."

Then Kirk, Spock and Bones (the upper officers of the vessel, all down on a strange planet) are having a pow wow and then they suddenly here "AAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH!"

There goes Lt. Jones.

I thought there was a bit of a joke to how by the 2nd film Kirk and the rest were wearing red uniforms and in Next Gen, red was the colour of command officers and gold (like Kirk used to wear) was the colour of lesser ranks.

And does Star Fleet not have enlisted men and Marines? WTF?
