Re: Stuff that works

I will say longer rucks with a 30# pack, with a heart rate between 85-105 (depends on speed, I don't get past 105 unless I'm on a hill now) has really dropped my resting heart rate. This time last year, was between 59-63 RHR, today I am between 49-53 RHR. This is just me with a pack, walking my dog...

Re: Nice read on training for surfing (or whatever)

A side note on that: I think mobility and endurance are so elevated in status vs. strength in the popular mind because -- Weak people hate strength, and The media in general hates strong people. How many hatchet jobs have we all read on bodybuilders, powerlifters, etc.? Basically everything I've ev...

Thumb Position When Doing Shoulder Mobility Exercises

Several years ago, I believe it was Steve Maxwell, had a mobility routine that included, IIRC, arm circles in both directions, etc. I believe he made a point about the direction of the thumbs while doing this for shoulder health Obviously, I only have a vague recollection of this fine point, but I'm...

Change in Dragon Door's N-95 Mask Offer

This strikes me as so odd. Below is the most recent email. Special announcement: Under further notice, when you pre-order the ISOCHAIN, you will receive a donation of 50 N95 masks, which we will deliver to you personally or to an entity of your choice. Offer for US customers only. If you are failing...

Re: COVID-FIT: Survive the Chinese AIDS

I just started up my trail walking and bodyweight stuff again after a long lay off. It feels good to feel my body get back into some kind of shape and the work has improved my mood. That last is what I think is what could help insulate me from infection. A good mood and a positive attitude. And eve...

Doesn't seem like his typical ad copy. I agree. The subject matter is unique though, obviously not a certification, book, video, exercise equipment, etc. It was in an email from Dragon Door I received today, so I suspect many others received the same email. I hear Gov. Cuomo practically begging peo...

N-95 Masks from Dragon Door

I am under the impression that these masks should all be heading to health care providers, not the general public. Am I wrong? Below was from Dragon Door: We have had the opportunity to purchase a limited quantity of N95 masks. Because of the limited supply we recommend that you order immediately. N...

What would a rucking PR look like?

For me it would be completing a long walk without having to take a shit in someone's yard.

Re: It's a Wonderful Life

I have not watched it in some time, but one detail I've thought about many times over the years is when Donna Reed takes Jimmy Stewart to the old, broken-down house that, against his, "travel the world" fantasies, will become their home, and as he ascends the stairs, the post cap of the stairway rai...

Re: Pavhole on Rogan

Funny to me that Pavel's (public anyway,) persona, is that he is a hard ass. (e.g., "The dishonor of aerobics". dissing on Pilates, etc.) Yet, he is "afraid" (what else could it really be, with the exception perhaps of knowing that "mystery" keeps him interesting to some,) to simply state his age? (...

Many of us here remember when DragonDoor / Pavel & CrossFit were in their early days of internet-fueled popularity. I find so much of this discussion fascinating. Not important, but fascinating. We all have known great athletes who struggled, post-glory days, to earn a living. Then, amazingly, IMO, ...

Why are you drawn to it, or are you merely curious?

Re: IR Sauna

This is somewhat off-topic, but not entirely, I don't think. I don't know as much as I'd like about the claimed benefits of IR, or even traditional, nor the science supporting such claims, though I think, "detoxification" as a benefit of perspiration is generally deemed conventional wisdom. (If some...

Disappointing that the 12 minute video has been pulled down. I did it daily for a few months a couple years ago. I did not have any "throw away your crutches" type of faith-healing miracles as described in some of the comments, but I did it enjoy it as a way to insure some daily mobility/stretching ...

For those who have read Pavel's latest work, a question that is beside the point of whether the methodology works well or not. Since departing Dragon Door, has the over-the-top "Comrade," ("Evil Empire," "One Mississippi, Two Mississippi...One Volga, Two Volga") and, "X is for sissies", etc., sort o...
