Re: Generation Kill - DVD box set
I loved the book, but I figured this would just be a bunch of left wing Hollywood crap.
If it's not I'll netflix as well.

Re: Beowulf - The New Movie Thing.
There is no way I will ever watch this film. But to scratch the itch I rented "Beowulf and Grendel" from netflix a while back. It was a really entertaining little flick. Worth a rental just for the Icelandic scenery. http://mynameiskate.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/beowulfgrendel_1.jpg

I was thinking that Wii Tennis + a weighted vest would equal a nice workout.

Re: Soundtracks From Movies
I just remembered "The Hired Hand", a really good little western from the early 70's directed by Peter Fonda. I think he produced it too with his Easy Rider money. I netflixed it because Warren Oates was in it. Anyway, the soundtrack by Bruce Langhorne was incredible. He played all of the ...

The opening chase from Mad Max was incredible.
I also liked the one in The Seven Ups with Roy Schieder. (Same team that did Bullet.)

Powaqqatsi was great as well Jack! Deathturd, I love the Germs and Fear. (Met Lee Ving in DC about 15 years ago.) Everyone knows Ennio Morricone's The Good the Bad and the Ugly theme, but IMO his best work was in the music for Duck You Sucker aka Fistful of Dynamite. I can't get enough of this quirk...

Thanks Dave, that's good info.
They have been screwing up the BR soundtrack for almost 30 years. I got suckered into buying the "Orchestral Adaptatons" rip off back in the day.

Shit, I almost forgot about Enki Bilal! I've been reading his stuff since it appeared in Heavy Metal back in the 70's. I love the grim Eastern European look of his artwork and the surreal images. http://images.blog-24.com/260000/264000/264350.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/f/fe/T...

I agree with Spells...The Dark Knight Returns is Miller's best work. http://image.comicvine.com/uploads/item/2000/1699/172331-batman_400.gif Also, when I was in Beijing a few years back I picked up a copy of Sun Tzu's Art of War in graphic novel form. (and English to boot) That's a really neat littl...

Check out Stanislav Levchenko's book "On the Wrong Side". It's mostly about his time in Japan but I haven't read a better book about the KGB. Plus you can get it for a penny on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Wrong-Side-My-Life-KGB/dp/008034478X/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1232422...

Brookstone Tranquil Moments
My only complaint is that it doesn't have 'rain on a tin roof'. (It does have rain and thunderstorm though.)

I love Ben Stiller, but I thought this movie was a mess. There were a few good laughs though (panda), and Downey was great. If you blinked in the 1990's you missed seeing 'The Ben Stiller Show'. Probably one of the funniest shows ever on TV. So of course, it was canceled it after only 12 episodes. W...

Re: Bigger Stronger Faster*, a new dvd about steroids
Shaf just posted an update on the Training Forum.
The oldest brother in the movie was just found dead at 37.
http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/arti ... 8/81215001
In the movie, the dad talked about how he was worried that they would find that son dead one day. What a tragedy.

Wow, I remember a few years ago Conan had a special mystery guest on the show.
When it came time Conan said, "Ladys and gentlemen...it's Grady!"
The crowd went nuts and gave him a spontanious standing ovation.
Everyone loves Grady.

Bigger Stronger Faster*, a new dvd about steroids
I just Netflixed this documentary about steroid use and thought it was a very good film. They cover both sides of the issue, and it has a lot of very frank discussion about the pros and cons of steroid use. It features three brothers who are into power lifting. Two of them are surprisingly open abou...
