I'm not posting an image to any of this crap. What if I told you police in your town could desensitize themselves to the idea of shooting a child, a pregnant woman, or a young mother, for just a couple of bucks? The "No More Hesitation" series from Law Enforcement Targets Inc. offers exactly that. For less than 99 cents per target, police can shoot at real-life images "designed to give officers the experience of dealing with deadly force shooting scenarios with subjects that are not the norm during training."
So paper targets can be used to "desensitize" but playing video games hour after hour day after day are not desensitizing at all?![]()

Yesterday the Alameda County Sheriff's Office presented a proposal for the purchase of a drone in a public hearing with the Board of Supervisors Public Protection Committee in Oakland, California. EFF joined the ACLU of Northern California and several other public interest groups in testifying against a drone purchase until the Sheriff's Office adopts a substantive, binding privacy policy—with no loopholes—that protects citizens from undue surveillance.

An elderly Pennsylvania woman was reportedly killed in a shootout between police and a “highly intoxicated” Bucks County man. The Allentown Morning Call reports that Marie Zienkewicz, 89, was in her apartment Tuesday night when she was hit by crossfire, according to Warminster police. Zienkewicz lived in the apartment below the man who was shooting at police, authorities said. Police and the Bucks County district attorney's office did not say who shot Zienkewicz. An investigation is ongoing. Andrew G. Cairns, 49, began fighting with his girlfriend on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said. Both were "highly intoxicated" by alcohol and drugs, District Attorney David Heckler told the newspaper. Cairns' girlfriend later called police and said he had fired two shots from his .44 Magnum handgun in an attempt to kill himself. When officers arrived, Heckler said, Cairns fired at least eight shots at them. The officers returned at least four shots, he said. Police said Zienkewicz was hit during that exchange. She was found dead in her apartment after the gunfight. Cairns barricaded himself in his apartment until turning himself in around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said. His girlfriend escaped from the apartment around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Cairns was charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault, among other counts. He is jailed with bail set at $10 million. Reached by telephone, Zienkewicz's son-in-law declined to comment. Click for more from the Allentown Morning Call. Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/02/21/pe ... z2Lamcxukm

These lurid details are outlined in confidential internal disciplinary reports obtained by CNN that were issued to FBI employees as a way to deter misconduct.

DES MOINES COUPLE SETTLES FOR $51,000 AFTER DOG WAS SHOT BY POLICE
February 21, 2013
Adult Newfoundland dog similar to Rosie that was killed by police.(DES MOINES, WA) -- A Des Moines couple whose dog was shot and killed by Des Moines police in 2010 have settled a lawsuit over loss of the dog for $51,000.
Charles and Dierdre Wright had filed a federal lawsuit against Des Moines police, claiming their civil rights were violated when officers shot Rosie, a Newfoundland, in November 2010.
The settlement was reached last month according to The Wrights’ attorney, Adam Karp. The couple are still seeking some $90,000 in investigative and attorney fees from the city.
Des Moines police investigated the shooting incident and concluded the officers’ actions were justified.
The police officers had responded to a report of a large dog on the loose in the Wrights’ Des Moines neighborhood,. The tip was phoned in by a neighbor who was concerned that Rosie might get hurt.
The Wrights were out of town and Rosie had somehow gotten out of the yard.
Over an hour of trying to capture and control the dog the officers twice used a Taser on the animal, chased the dog for blocks and ultimately shot Rosie four times with a rifle in the backyard of a nearby resident.

A West Sacramento police officer has been arrested for investigation of assault and kidnapping charges involving a half dozen women in the West Capitol Avenue area, the department announced today.
The department called an unusual 7 p.m. press conference to announce that Officer Sergio Alvarez (left), who had been with the city of West Sacramento since 2007, allegedly had carried out the acts while performing uniformed patrol duties.

Albany, NY is fucked up. It's a as close as you can come to a police state for young people of any persuasion. 2 cops handcuffed my son at party, arrested the apartment occupants then gave my son two swats to the side of the head before letting him go. By Albany standards, my son got off easy. Unfortunately no video and no willing witnesses.

The Arkansas Court of Appeals says a police officer was right to handcuff a minor and use his Taser gun on him repeatedly, even though the underage suspect was determined to have not committed any crime before the cops arrived.
http://rt.com/usa/arkansas-appeal-taser-beaten-818/The incident at hand involved an officer who saw R.R “approaching a much smaller woman” at night in a small community. “The officer said that he was concerned for the woman’s safety and approached R.R.,” the court documents claim. Not until later that evening, however, did the police learn that the “much smaller woman” was their suspect’s mother.

Okay, vigilance. It's cool. But...Manchester Community College was locked down for hours Wednesday afternoon after a student reported seeing a man with a gun in a hallway.
Students and faculty were ordered to say inside buildings for hours as officers searched room by room.
No gunman was found, and the lockdown that began around 2 p.m. was called off shortly after 7:30 p.m. State police said the investigation into the report was still underway Wednesday night.
Whoops. Serious question, because I've never had it happen when shooting or seen it happen, but isn't an accidental discharge a touch worse from a cop who's supposed to know how to operate his weapon during a search that was, presumably, quite tense?A Manchester police officer suffered a foot injury during the search when his weapon accidentally discharged, state police said. Manchester police Capt. Christopher Davis said the officer was taken to Hartford Hospital in a police cruiser. Police did not release the officer's name or information on his condition.
