A group of Ukrainian women is resorting to drastic measures to protest Moscow's moves in Crimea by calling for a sex strike against Russian men.

Organizers of the campaign "Don't Give It To A Russian" are urging fellow Ukrainian females to stay away from Russian men, the Atlantic reports. T-shirts designed by the campaign are emblazoned with the slogan, followed by a verse from the poem Kateryna by Ukraine's Taras Shevchenko: “O lovely maidens, fall in love, but not with the Moskaly (the Russians).

LOL! They'll just take it anyway! Didn’t the bitches get the memo?

A prominent political ally and advisor to Vladimir Putin has proposed splitting up Ukraine along the lines of an historical pact agreed between the Nazis and Soviet Union.

Vladimir Zhirinovsky, widely regarded as a mouthpiece for the Russian president, proposed a redrawing of the borders of western Ukraine - which would involve regions being incorporated into the territories of Poland, Romania and Hungary.

Reductio ad Stalinum?
Let me give you some perspective on this gentleman. First, a quick look at Wiki:
In 2006, in answer to Ramzan Kadyrov's support for polygamy in Chechnya, Zhirinovsky said it should be applied across Russia. To eradicate bird flu, he proposed arming all of Russia's population and ordering them and the troops to shoot down the migrant birds returning to Russia from wintering. ... In the wake of the February 2013 Chelyabinsk meteor, Zhirinovsky was quoted by the Russian International News Agency as claiming “It’s not meteors falling, it’s the test of a new weapon by the Americans.”
or the recent mention in the Moscow News:
Known for making outrageous and often bizarre statements, Zhirinovsky also took exception to the Russian alphabet, lobbying for the letter "Ы" to be removed from the Russian alphabet. He accused Ы — pronounced from the back of the throat — of being a "nasty letter" that does not endear the Russian language to Europeans, Regnum reported... In November, Zhirinovsky advised his party members to have sex no more than four times a year and in February recommended that couples kiss each other on the forehead rather than on the lips, but only after that area had been disinfected.
"A prominent political ally and advisor to Vladimir Putin", really? It's up to you to decide if this is ignorance or a blatant lie, typical for the focused campaign against Putin. I am not fan of any politician, but a journalist with the hint of self-respect should make at least minimal effort to make his claims look at least remotely believable.

I don't claim to be an expert on the ins and outs of Russian politics, but:
Vladimir Volfovich Zhirinovsky (Russian: Влади́мир Во́льфович Жирино́вский), born Vladimir Volfovich Eidelstein (Russian: Влади́мир Во́льфович Эйдельште́йн) on 25 April 1946, is a Russian politician and political activist. He is a colonel in the Russian Army, founder and the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe[1][2][3][4] and was twice, in 2000 and in 2004, elected deputy speaker of the Duma.[2]

His party controls ~15% of the seats in the Duma-- doesn't seem like someone to dismiss lightly.

Ukraine's interim government says it will raise gas prices for domestic consumers by 50% in an effort to secure an International Monetary Fund (IMF) aid package.

An official at Ukraine's Naftogaz state energy company said the price rise would come in on 1 May, and further rises would be scheduled until 2018.

Ukrainians are accustomed to buying gas at heavily subsidised rates

The US Department of Agriculture is looking to boost imports of hemp seeds from Ukraine, hoping this will help the country’s battered economy. However, they still do not know what it will be used for.

Zhirinovsky's electorate.

The same way many Americans took Sarah Palin seriously Zhirinovsky is popular among certain circles (see above). Journalists use his performance either for entertainment or, like the author of the piece in Independent, for cheap anti-Russian/Putin brownie points.

Is it true that Russian people are just robots with no grasp on emotions, or just regular humans with no grasp on emotions?

Lets say that im in the same position in croatia as a serb as remaining russians in ukraine.
So i disagree with timoshenko if thats your question.

Btw nobody will loot ukraine like ukrainians. The russians are only an excuse. The ukraine government cant turn on russia or america or imf,so they have to find scapegoat.
Like in croatia. Everything is serb fault even after 20 years of croatians in government. The croatians cant blame their government because that means the people were deceived by their own government. They cant turn against america or eu. Who remains?

Not talking about his electorate, talking about his political influence. Palin, fer instance, like her or not, has tremendous political influence on both the right and the left-- even though she's never been elected to national office.

In other important Russia news...
KRASNOYARSK, March 21. /ITAR-TASS/. The Krasnoyarsk-based flora and fauna park called ‘Royev Ruchei’ will celebrate this year’s wakening of bears by staging a holiday dubbed ‘Beary stretch-outs’ in pajama party style. The zoo’s press service reported this to Itar-Tass on Friday.

I see what you mean. At the same time, there is a universal human instinct to defer responsibility. Mexicans blame America for their problems, Croats blame Serbs, Ukrainians blame Russians, etc. but none of that justifies Russian hegemony over her neighbors. Let Ukrainians hang themselves with their own rope.

Russia already has NATO countries on its border. Are you suggesting they should invade them too? How can another sovereign country be "vital"?

Ukrainians should decide who is in power. Not me, not Putin. But people--especially Slavs--talk like that when they are heated (kad volim, volim kad ne volim koljim), and in private conversation. And again, what language did she say it in? Russian. She is the native Russian-speak Putin claims he wants to save.

of course not invading them.they "invaded"ukraine that is not in nato. vital in not encircling russia with nato countries.

Ukrainians should decide who is in power. Not me, not Putin.
a bit of utopia. you know that this will never be possible.

She is the native Russian-speak
ukraininan nationalist that only speaks russian. dealing with russia on oil under table.
