Which dude? From what I gathered, the main defendant was still an affiliate or at least using @fit methodology.Shaf wrote:That dude cut his affiliation a few years back
Either way, @fit cannot wash its hands of this blood.

The work out that led to the law suit happened in 2005. I would guess that the gym was a @fit affiliate at the time of the injuries and shortly there after Cooch cut his ties to cover his fat rear end/check book.Shaf wrote:That dude cut his affiliation a few years back

Arms are the only true badge of liberty. The possession of arms is the distinction of the free man from the slave.

Stop it, okay?! Just stop it! Stop talking about Cootch this way! He's a good man! :::tears streaming::: He's a good and wonderful man! :::cries incessantly while doing kip chin-ups:::

Some responses:Do people actually get denied for Affiliation?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just curious if anyone has actually been denied Affiliation. I always hear people say wish me luck on my Affiliation.
The requirements to affiliate do not seem especially difficult to achieve.
This statistic will prove invaluable to put Couch and Cultfit Inc on the hook for an affiliate's fuckups. Pay money, get insurance, write an essay and presto! you're an "official" Cultfit Affiliate (scientology-based Cultfit charts extra, of course). This greed-based affiliation puts Cultfit HQ on the hook for negligent training/supervision of "Cultfit Certified" (read: had $1000 burning a hole in their pocket) Trainers and affiliates. Cultfit HQ can't profit from its affiliates' success but dodge paying for its affiliates' fuckups. As long as the fees for affiliations and certs are paid, I don't see anyone being denied.

The peer-review requirement is an evidentiary standard. Still, some CFers are weeping and gnashing their teeth that their beloved journal is not scientific.Rant wrote:It must have killed couch to have to keep hit fat mouth shut when the court agreed that the Journal was unscientific.Grandpa's Spells wrote:LMAO! Funny how they suddenly care about peer review.the Journal was deemed to not be authoritative because it was not a scientific, peer-reviewed journal.
As far as lawsuits go, Couch is the gift that keeps on giving. Any testimony he gives creates a record for use (in some form) in future cases. He talked about being a plaintiff's expert. That's fine and well for this case, but it will fuck him in the long run. It's fun to imagine Couch on the stand. After he goes up the handicap elevator to his chair, he probably turns into Col. Jessup (Jack Nicholson) about three questions in.

The @fit Journal cannot be peer-reviewed; @fit has no peers.

Killed by snipers in Maplewood, MO. Is that for real?
Maplewood, Missouri Firefighter, Ryan Hummert, 22, was killed by sniper fire July 21st 2008 when he stepped off his fire truck responding to a call. He is survived by his parents Andrew and Jackie Hummert

You have no chance to survive make your time.

I haven't before entered this colossus of a thread, but now & again pop my head in the door. I popped over for my 6 monthly check @Xfit to see the pikers run from the latest WOD. This particular comment ; in the land of Oz would evoke the simple and direct response "what a dickhead".

These people need to be placed in an insulin induced coma, a popular treatment in the 40s. It might save their lives.

fuck me, I thought we had it bad getting bricked by locals when responding to call outs. That's pretty sad. I find crossfit's use of these kinds of events a little distasteful though. I used to find it hard to quantify exactly why, but this;
arrived right on cue to clarify my thoughts perfectly.""RIP Mr. Joshua . I will remember you while I run, sit-up, deadlift and puke in the morning."

So is one allowed to post that kind of comment on that forum?
I get very confused

I think that it was a slam on @fit and their attempt to use cops, firefighters, and the military to boost themselves. The mystery to me is why the board moderators didn't delete it.Trebuchet wrote: So that couldn't be read as a tad disrespectful to the memory of a deceased gentleman in your country?

I get very confused; & must be oligosynaptic.
Hmm. I used to use oligo, then I found out that the trans fats made it even worse than butter.

Maybe he isn't talking about the firefighter.Trebuchet wrote:"RIP Mr. Joshua . I will remember you while I run, sit-up, deadlift and puke in the morning."
perhaps he is taking this moment to reflect his love of the first lethal weapon movie, and means he will be thinking of Gary busey, while he is deadlifting his broomstick (or if he is a fan of army of darkness, his boomstick)
maybe in addition to being a raging douchebag, this poor guy just suffers from bulimia, and like many @fit men, just wants to keep his model thin figure and has to purge in the morning.

Re: The couch thread
Not to derail the current line of thought on this page but I have urgent news: Crossfit is now a threat to powerlifters everywhere:
Not the use of the term "non-affiliate". It must be hard to descend to the levels of mere mortals and train in a totally unsuitable gym occupied by mere common gym goers.
Also note the massive bench press that is a result of @fit. A WTF? effect, I'm sure. This dildo is worried about dropping 195 pounds on himself in the bench but is good to go with all the silly acrobatical hobknobbery common to the @fitters?
This was in a thread titled, "I haven't benched in months..."Yeah, I don't have a good spot at my non-affiliate so I'm always hesitant to do the bench.
Although, I did heavy singles two days after my last bench attempt and maxed at 195lbs., 35lbs higher than my previous 1 RM Max! I could have gone higher, I think, but I'm always worried about dropping it on me.

Re: The couch thread
This happened less than 10 miles from my house. A guy set fire to his car. The firefighters responded. When they did, he started shooting at them and killed Ryan Hummert. 2 police officers were severely injured by Gunfire. The Gunman died after setting fire to his own house. This whole ordeal lasted for about 5 or 6 hours.Mickey O'neil wrote:Yeah, wtf?steamboatwillie! wrote:Killed by snipers in Maplewood, MO. Is that for real?

Crossfit Journal on rhabdo.
The article is a marketing masterpiece IMO. Too many gems for one post to do justice.Athletes from conventional training programs have found that, relative to CrossFit-trained athletes, a) they cannot maintain similarly high workloads, b) they are likely to suffer orthopedic trauma trying, and c) they develop rhabdo at power output levels that are easily maintained by CrossFit regulars, including women, older athletes, and children.

Dano, am I remembering correctly that you used to be a smoke jumper or worked on a fire crew?
