It says "patrons," unfortunately.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

My question is who is John Tier and the Anonymous SEAL that wrote letters to Outside magazine in regards to the Gym Jones article.
Sweating for Recognition
I just finished reading Nick Heil's "The Hell-on-Earth Fitness Plan" (November) about alpinist Mark Twight's Gym Jones workouts. The routine deserves respect, but I wish you'd instead written about the founder of this type of intense regimen, Sean Burch. I started taking Burch's Hyperfitness classes back in 1996, and find Gym Jones and Crossfit (which is also mentioned) to be mere knock offs. Check out the book Hyperfitness if you have any doubts. Burch provides an insane number of exercise - more than 400 - and delves deeper into functional fitness than any of the organizations you mentioned. You dropped the medicine ball, big time. - John Tier Washington, D.C.
I found this very interesting. Along with the anonymous SEAL citing his knee, shoulder, and lower back surgeries that were caused by Cultfit type training.

Good to see the trend of "Look, we're cool. . .we drink beer!" is still alive on the mainpage.
Poseurs.

I was doing some BW stuff yesterday after my JM, alternating strap pushups with BW SQ and Hindu SQ (I am working up very slowly in these so my knees can adapt to them), and band one-arm presses.

This woman came walking by and said "Oh, are you doing Crossfit?"

I said "Greg Glassman did not invent crosstraining. He just thinks he did."

She looked shocked. I think her Kool-Aid was backing up on her.
She was shocked because a simple no would've sufficed instead of the douchy response you gave (not that it's not correct).

Boy. Larry Lindenmann is a fucking moron.
Prove me wrong.

What derives more muscle growth:

Full body lifts or compound lifts?

3 x 8 - 10 reps 3 - 4 times a week or varied rep range - high intensity (closer to 1 rep max) 6 times a week?

What cuts body fat faster LSD (on a treadmill) or High intensity weighted interval training?

Two of the most popular "new age" bodybuilding and fat cutting programs are Chad Waterbury's "Anti Bodybuilding Program" and Cosgrove's "After Burn". Put them together and you have a program very close to Crossfit.

Point me to fitness models or bodybuilders who look better than Nicole or Eva.

Crossfit, blows away any program for putting on mass on the back and legs...all the muscles you can't see in the mirror.

Thanks for wining my argument for me Elizabeth. It has almost become dogma to dis Coach for his statement on Crossfit and bodybuilding, with really nothing to back up why Coach's statement is erroneous.

Oh fucking hell! I hadn't noticed this little gem, attributed to "Lynne" from the FAQs, discussing the "muscle building" hierarchy of bodybuilding and cultfitting, with and without droogz:

The CrossFit protocol is designed to elicit a substantial neuroendocrine whollop and hence packs an anabolic punch that puts on impressive amounts of muscle though that is not our concern. Strength is.

I find it hilarious that they tout strength is their goal but their numbers are not all that impressive.

Everything is relative so long as one stays ignorant. That's the appeal.

To them:
"stronger than they were when they started"= strong

There's only so much Rippetoe and Burgener can do for them.

I agree. The simple fact that they are claiming to get better results in a sports specific field than the training of that field is ridiculous. Next they will say that Lance Armstrong should @fit to get in shape for the Tour de France. Hell, if he went to one seminar they would tout him as a @fitter and that their methods are once again the be all end all.

Fucking tards.

All that being said....what's your Fran time?

It's much worse than that. Their numbers suck. I mean 200 pound deadlifts? WTF is that? One of these days one of them will crack and admit that all they really care about is the twink factor with the wash board abs and posing for pics after certs sans shirt, flashing gang sings and hoisting brews. Their manin goal is same sex attraction...period.

1. Who is that in the hat with cooch? (Mrs. Cooch is looking well)
2. Detox is a bitch (explaining why Mrs. Cooch is looking well, no doubt)
3. Merkins come in red? Matching carpet and drapes, no doubt.

I swear, Coach doesn't look like Otis. He looks like Nix, The Puritan in the film "Lord of Illusions."

I think I drove past a hobo that looked like Cooch today. I swear he was holding a sign that said, "will design workout for a bottle of cheap Gin."

In a No-Holds-Barred Steel Cage Deathmatch, who would prevail? Richard Simmons or Couch?

Cooch with his distended gin filled belly and alcoholic rage dominates for the first minute, then he starts projectile vomiting the Four Circle K Chimichangas and liter of Cheap Safeway Gin he had for lunch. Richard Simmons recovers from the ass wupping and crying, and in a hissy fit worthy of the biggest drag queen in San Francisco goes all homo retard strength on Cooch.

After the fight, Cooch recovers somewhat (but some how shits his pants) and then staggers over to the closest liquor store and buys a 12 pack of Black label beer, 5 monster Tabasco flavored Slim Jims, & cleans out the donut shelf. Richard Simmons has nervous break down and immediately calls 911. While screaming at the 911 dispatcher that he needs an ambulance and calling the dispatcher a fat bitch, Richard Simmons slips and falls in Cooch's puke.
