ringworm.
you should have got the 3 for 2 deal. two girls is fine and all but with 3 you really start to see some possibilties.

Dave Tate in video "Good at Everything-Great at Nothing"
Wonder how well that went over? I have already heard some ab-fags commenting on Dave's buildYou are not training elite athletes. You are training health and fitness
Re: The couch thread
Isn't Tate fairly lean still? I could've sworn I just read something he wrote claiming to be like 12% BF at fucking 287. That is pretty fucking lean to be that crazy big.CultBuster wrote:Wonder how well that went over? I have already heard some ab-fags commenting on Dave's build

Even the @Fers are sensing that they're being "sold out" by @FHQ...

Video: http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/CFJo ... railer.wmv or http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/CFJo ... railer.mov
I remember couch saying months before the first increase (from $500 to $1K/year) that the affiliate fee would never go above $500. What, a mistruth?
couch also said that @F would never franchise...and now, even @Fers are smelling franchise development.

Though of late it seems that the business side of crossfit is taking paramount - at least in my eyes. In the raising of the affiliate fees, which I understand is to control who affiliates so some random with some money cant start a box - basically a quality control. And now this idea to create CrossFit franchises? Basically creating little identical clone boxes? Ya the gym looks nice, but it has a globo-chain feel to it.
I agree with Norman #9, the affiliate looks great, but feels more like a franchise, like Snap Fitness. Glitzy but soulless.
I can't explain it it other than, Globo.
Wait a minute. What is going on here? Is Lorenzo Neal an owner of this CrossFit box? Does "PIA" have an ownership in this box? Does Ladanian Tomlinson do CrossFit?
When I watched this video, I got the feeling PIA was a "product placement" company, that puts athletes together with products "they believe in". But, that sounds like an company specializing in getting athletes to do paid endorsements. Was Lorenzo Neal paid to endorse this specific box?
When I clicked on the link to CrossFit PIA, the 2 trainers were level I Certified. Ahmik Jones is not a listed trainer at this box. Is Ahmik involved with this box?
This whole thing seems like a Gillette commercial. What is going on?
Waaaaaaaah. "@F sold us out!"I use to workout at Golds Gym when it was a gym for serious lifters.
Since Joe Gold sold it back in the 70's, it has become the largest co-ed gym franchise in the world. The franchises now provide tanning rooms, jazzercise, a smoothie bar, etc. They will no longer allow me sweat on their equipment.
To me, that video demonstrated the genesis of the franchising of the Crossfit brand.

Re: The couch thread
Charles Poliquin
vs.
Couch

This guy is way too drunk off this shit. He acts like a guy that can train athletes to a high level in a specific performance based sport would have no idea how to train GPP in a group of people that have no specific performance goals. And once again a list of athletes couch trains cannot be found, as he falls back on the bullshit excuse of helping thousands to get fit, not just helping a few pussy specialists with their athletic careers.Barry Cooper wrote:What is his background with the Marine Corps and SOCOM?
How many thousands of people has he helped develop the conditioning to perform life threatening jobs under pressure?
I haven't heard of one of those athletes, and don't find that list very impressive. Doubles Luge?
Coach has the talent to do those things. He just doesn't have the interest. Do you help dozens or thousands? Do you help people whose lives depend on fitness, or just their athletic careers?
Those of you who want to worship him, or support his ignorant denigration of CrossFit in this forum, are going to accomplish little but move people from indifference towards this guy to open antipathy.
Let me give you a hint: if your link has a guy in a bikini bottom in the background, you won't get many takers here.
O RLY? What happened to fitness for all? After all, fitness varies by degree, not kind. What about the "pencil pushers" in the twin towers on 9-11? If they would have been doing @fit everything would have been just fine, right? Fucking hypocrisy. Most of the people doing @fit are the people that DON'T NEED it.Barry Cooper wrote:The people who use CrossFit are the people who NEED it. Pencil pushers don't need it, so they are not signing the documents that would authorize it.

Re: The couch thread
Just got back from the gym (and hospital). My back went into spasm while trying to do:
5-5-5-5-5.
I was up to around 70kg which I didn't think was too heavy, 5 should of been hard but possible without failing.
Big click at the bottom and hey presto back went into spasm.
Any ideas why?
Jeez, I wonder what the big click was? With that much weight it is sooo easy to get injured squatting

RE: The "Globoazation" of @Fit. Duh! People are making cash money with a 3k investmant and a shitty storage locker with rusty gear and home made shit. OF COURSE people are going to come in with actual cash and get paid off of this. OF COURSE "real" business owners are going to have a more standardized approach in place to make sure they are making real money. Look at Obsession in VaBeach. HUGE place! Look at how many of the new places are jacked and loaded with new, matching things and have visulal apeal. Gone are the days of garage gyms with mish mash gear and a boom box.
Sorinex GHDs run close to $1000 a piece. Look at the Lalane places with 12-16 rowers and everyone is getting the custom made bars. This is all creating side work that I think will implose @Fit. Rob Wolf and Dutch and OPT and Kelley Starrett all have specialty certs that they don't need @fit for. Rut kills me that he stays. More and more corporote owners will come in and couch won't be able to do anything about it. If the money is right he will sell the garges down the toilet. Affiliate beefs are at an all time high. Guys here were blog warring one another until one just left the fold. Idiots

I liked this injury too.
Just as I was locking out on deadlift PR, I heard a snap. It didn't hurt, but didn't feel right. Even now, it isn't really a pain as much as it is just a discomfort. I have ok ROM but bicep really wants to tighten up if I don't keep it completely relaxed. It has definitely pulled away from elbow joint some.
Advice on what I should do?

I don't know who this Barry Cooper faggot is, but that was a staggeringly impressive amount of stupid in one post. Obviously he must be a higher up.
I do have to give couch credit for one thing though. Most trainers who are incapable of improving an athlete at his endeavor don't make it very long. Yet couch had the savvy to turn his shitty workouts into a 'sport' in and of itself and therefore is exempt from scrutiny in a practical application sense. The next step is going to be certifying trainers in assistance protocols for improving an "athlete's" xfit meet performances. Face it people, the man's got the survivability of a fucking cockroach.

How can you guys read Barry Cooper posts, I usually can't get past the first fucking sentence? When you say, boring day, is that just short of shoot yourself in the head boring? fuuuuuuuck

Re: The couch thread
I wonder what that PR deadlift was poundage wise. Probably 300#. Imagine a bar fully loaded to the sleeves with 10kg extra wide blue bumpers (if thats possible to add up to 300# on the bar). Its good all of that training "to be prepared for anything" resulted in pulling a deadlift with shitty form and blowing a bicep. I would definitely take pride in that. Let it be known I tore a hamstring doing explosive RDL's with 275 pounds after being able to C&J 300-pounds and deadlift over 500#. Its nothing to brag about, it happens. But it wasn't a form issue. Blowing a bicep pulling a light ass weight=shit form. Just like tearing the fuck out of your hands with every godamn exercise you do.tough old man wrote:I liked this injury too.
