Re: The couch thread
To be frank, I'm not talking about the dudes. Lets face it. For the most part, the people who do xfit, are dudes with tats/meth calves and chicks that are buff. I see an increase interest in female powerlifting from this. Not the dudes. Fuck no, not the dudes; they are about their Fran times. The soccer moms find heavy weights empowering. I see an increased interest in PL from this. It should be epic.friedquads wrote:Nah, too many pussies will be whining about their precious Fran time and not having a 4-hour vomit-session metcon with KB's and Dynamax balls.Really Big Strong Guy wrote:This very well could become the norm given Westside's influence on the cult. Sooth. For all of their pretend elite cockgobbling douchebaggery, deep down these elite male athletes know that they are weak. To admit such a thing though would greatly diminish said eliteness, so they choose to define 'elite' as how much they can puke. The sad thing though is that even then they're still amateurs compared to any genuine, highly trained bulimic.Really Big Strong Guy wrote:To be frank, I'm not talking about the dudes. Lets face it. LMFAO at people who probably can't bench their own bodyweight worried about 5-board presses.
This is what happens when people focus on the "how" and forget about the "why".

A year ago any talk about board presses on the CF forums would have been slammed by the faithful who proudly proclaim "LMAO, I haven't done bench presses in years. When the aliens land I'm gonna kip my way to safety, not press them away. Plus, specificity is for insects." But Couch gave WSB the thumbs up, so now everyone needs boards to hang on the wall like a cross next to their AbMat. They probably got the coin to buy some elitefts training gear now. 100$ two boards or something (i'm guessing). When I was at my dad-in-law's last powerlifting meet, the women were definitely strong as hell. The body-types however were either:Really Big Strong Guy wrote:To be frank, I'm not talking about the dudes. Lets face it. - Large, but they lifted a shitload of weight.
- Skinny, but still lifting a good amount for their size (e.g. 120 lbs woman squatting about 1.5x bodyweight with flawless form).
There was one girl there that looked pretty cute, but she was the wife of one of the lifters. Chick however was hiding her strength underneath a baggy sweatshirt. Everyone saw the actual beast come out when she helped her man get ready for the bench press. He had 100kg on the bar to start and when he needed a spotter to put the bar back on the rack after the judges gave him the all-clear, she grabbed the bar with one hand to help him set it. You could tell he was barely holding it as she ripped that thing up to set it back in the rack.

To be fair, most of us have a little of that in us.
