Ah yes, Dylan, the @fit injury forum is a testament to the reckless stupidity of your ilk.
However, which "sport" are you referring to exactly? Stay at home mommies blowing out discs? Or shirtless clowns stumbling around the business park struggling to keep a weight plate over their head?

That is some serious 20% slop right there. What, 50 or so "cleans" and not a single one done correctly.

I have it on good authority that the coach from the Columbus Weightlifting Club went in there to do a clinic.
CWLC is a top notch club with many national level lifters...it pains me that they would associate with such horseshit.
I guess a buck's a buck.

A buck is a buck, and...can you really blame anyone in WL from wanting to save @Fers from their own shyte form?

Fucking hell, I offered a free (to get it going) WL club class 2 nights a week (I did it for 2 or 3 weeks) at one of the local @Fs here...one dude showed up twice...and he was one of their trainers. I quit doing it. I can WL at home, in the damn street, for none of the extra drive time and none of the needing to help anybody who won't use the good advice anyway. I even did a KB seminar...felt like all I got was looks of "when do we get to do a metcon with this stuff?"

The met-crack addiction runs deep.

I actually just got an email from a guy about helping him with his new affiliate in town. He obviously has no idea where I'm at on the subject about now.

Fucking hell @Fit Endurance.
SUNDAY, 03.07.10: CHANGE THE STIMULUS TIME TRIAL

Anaerobic Endurance Strength and Conditioning Rest Day

Choose ONE of The Following Sports:
Swim, Bike, Run, C2
Maximal Effort Required!

Swim: 500m, add aT-shirt, parachute or Boots & Utes for drag, 1st 250m, with pull paddles, 2nd, without paddles.
Bike: 1 mile Hill climb, Remain out of the Saddle for the entire climb,Incline between 6-12%
Run: 1 mile Hill climb, Incline between 6-12%. First 1/2mile, Run backwards,2nd 1/2 mile Run Forward.
C2: 2000m, Damper setting between 5-8, Turn hands under, Palms up.
Three things:

1.) I want to see someone go into a pool at a gym wearing Boots or Utes and get the shit kicked out of them.
2.) I want to see the aftermath of someone trying to run backwards on a treadmill and fall on their faces.
3.) I want to see the fool who'd row with their palms up, yank the chain, and smash their faces with the bar.

This workout has got to be the stupidest one they've ever had.

And the faggotry of it all:

My first reaction - what the heck? What's the point?

If you're gonna do buddy carries do them the right way - buddy over the shoulder. You don't rescue someone by having them piggyback you, you do fireman carry.

You have to do swimming in boots and utes if you're going for some sort of specwar/specops, but most of the people following that site aren't training for selection. Anyone that follows the swimming workouts is probably training for a Olympic distance triathlon or something. I don't see how swimming in boots and utes is going to help a skinny triathlete get faster.

Prediction: Very soon some HCWDB type is going to claim his boots and yutes lap swim PR is way better than UDT/BUDS standards, followed soon thereafter by Couch claiming they have wo-mans doing it too. Then they will procalim themselves as elite as a Team guy. Astro will go along.

This will have far reaching consequences...

Well played, SZ.

Isn't @fitEnduro's problem that it's devotees don't put in the fucking mileage it takes to hack it at endurance sports?

Seriously, swimming in military gear, or any of those other suggestions sound like they're just pissing up a rope.

Why not tell @fitters to run a 1/2 marathon distance w/ 10lb ankle weights, that will make race pace w/out the ankle weights feel easier and faster, right?

Morons.

It appears that it will be a long time before CrossFit has a moment of clarity. To be simple but not simplistic, to garner fitness rather than the fatuous, that should be the goal.
