Reebok is probably giving as good as they get, but perhaps in a more bungling, less personal style.

You're talking about the difference between mass-produced bungling vs the boutique variety that @FHQ has perfected. No comparison.

For the first time ever, couch takes something back:
Cj Kim on Pukie's FaceBook wrote:Coach G drops a bomb, and then realises that most people think he looks like an ass, and then gets a slap down from his Reebok masters, and then gives Phil his job back. http://board.crossfit.com/showthread.ph ... ost1039852
Phil,

Tell you what, Sir, when that check comes tear it up. I’ll let the affiliate-team know that I’ve changed my mind.

Here’s what I want from you:

1. I want you to go to St. Jude’s with staff and me, including our physicians, and come back and reassess your cynicism wrt to our commitment to fighting catastrophic children's' illness.
2. I want you to sit down with the affiliate team and me and then reassess my, our, and their, commitments and efforts relating to the affiliates.
3. Take a tour with me of the affiliates in your vicinity and give a public assessment of what it is that we find in your area – the good, the bad, the ugly.
4. Hear me out personally on the IP issues surrounding FGB and Mr. Fraught in South Africa vis-à-vis CF Inc’s obligations contractual, legal, ethical, and strategic. (Mr. Fraught as you may recall is the gentleman who affiliated and then TM’d CF in South Africa to which you publicly posted that we should have better things to do than to challenge him.)
5. Help me come to believe that you don’t feel like your affiliation is only a convenience to you personally and financially rather than being of significant value.

I’ll arrange to do all of this at your convenience, but promise me you’ll make the effort.

You are a friend for whom I have IMMENSE respect – especially as an LEO and athlete. (I’d send you to law school if I could, however. Never thought I’d ever recommend that to anyone!) By way of introduction, everyone, Phil Mancini is a legendary SWAT Team leader ex of San Jose PD and past winner of the Toughest Cop Alive competition. He is a cop's cop, to be sure.

For the record, I have no dreams for me personally, for my company, for my staff, for the cause of health and fitness globally, for my life’s work and legacy, for my family and staff’s family that doesn’t depend in large part on the success of affiliates everywhere.

When you attribute less than honorable intent to CFHQ you are, in my heart, in my mind, disparaging me personally. Names need not be given. All that is wrong at HQ is my fault and all that is right belongs to staff and affiliates. The affiliate program is an expression of my and staff’s intent, whether we do a great job or a poor one. The only place where we are perfect is in our concern and love for affiliates. The rest is very human. It might help to remember that CF Inc. is not an abstraction but the combined efforts of a lot of really good people – many, the best souls I’ve ever met.

Affiliates, be critical, be cynical, and do so publicly, but leaving the impression that we are crooks or challenging our intent, especially when coupled with hints of not getting your money’s worth, means that the time has come for us to go separate ways. The only way I can guarantee happy customers is to offer the very best that we can and stand willing and ready to remedy the disaffected with a free path to move on without us, even if a refund is required. I’ll have no unhappy customers if I can help it.

My chief expectation of affiliates in our relationship is that they acknowledge the sincerity of our efforts.

I'm grateful that Budding has been taking a backseat at HQ lately in order to work on his beat poetry. I honestly enjoy his freeform verse.

More AMRAP. Meh.

Someone wake me up if there are any decent toes-to-bar fails.

Pukie believes that nothing about @F can hurt people. Well...
http://games.crossfit.com/article/lisa- ... ompetition
As I began to warm-up for 12.2, I heard a pop. Immediately I knew my season was over.

CrossFit Games competitor Lisa Shiu has been breathing down the necks of other CrossFitters since 2009. Over the years, Shiu has dominated short heavies, and bodyweight couplets, leaving only endurance-based workouts as her Achilles heel. She spent the last year working to improve this in preparation for the 2012 season.

“I don’t think anybody could have been ready for the softball throw, but as far as finite skills and straight endurance, the Games taught me I needed more of both,” Shiu says.

Over the months, Shiu fell prey to a “shoulder thing.” Shiu worked around her injury for months avoiding movements that seemed to make it worse, following the advice of her doctor and doing her best to let it heal.

As the CrossFit Games Open approached, it was business as usual for Shiu – nothing out of the ordinary, no drastic changes, just CrossFit.

After scoring 119 burpees on Open Workout 12.1, Shiu was excited to see the snatch workout.

After a regular warm-up, Shiu began snatching by hitting reps at each weight increment. While testing 75 pounds Shiu’s back made a noise that put her on the ground.

“Right when it happened, everything tightened up,” Shiu says. “I thought it was a sign from God telling me to stop.”

After a few choice words, Shiu decided it was best to not continue competing this season.

“I don’t want CrossFit to hurt. I want it to feel good and it always has,” she explains. “I am about preserving my body so I can do this for years to come, I am not about pushing through pain and permanently ending my career.”

Shiu has yet to receive a definitive diagnosis, but she assures her fellow CrossFitters that she will be back and better than ever in 2013.
My buddy heard his back "pop" during a workout once, it was a blown disc. I wonder if they aren't mentioning the diagnosis of the shoulder precisely because it is a SLAP tear.

Is the 12.2 workout the reason Lindsay Taylor bombed her snatches in Colombus?

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. - Helen Keller

Workout 12.3

Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 18 minutes of:

15 Box jumps (M 24" box / F 20" box)
12 Push press (M 115 lb / F 75 lb)
9 Toes-to-bar

No potential for injury there. No sir.

Nonsense, how could doing a stupid high-rep snatch workout a few days before you are supposed to be competing in Nationals possibly be tied to you bombing your snatches at the meet?

Snatch to the back o' da head in background is epic. If he only had been wearing cargo shorts and badassity he too would be a WRH!

She hurt herself warming up. It's obviously a systemic issue with her training, not a specific workout.

Let's see...achilles tendon injuries and shoulder injuries coming right up.

I've seen about 15 mentions of injuries incurred during the Open workouts just on the limited number of Crossfit people on my FB page, to deny it's happening is stupid. It might not be as pandemic as we make it out to be, on IGx, but it is happening.

Getting injured during high intensity stuff is understandable (not acceptable, but understandable).
Getting injured during warmups, light workouts, and while not training is a classic sign that your training absolutely sucks.

If anybody makes the arguement now that @fit is helping Oly lifting in the USA i just laugh. Just what they need in USA Oly now is more weak lifters with shitty technique.
