Yeah. It looks like Obama/Biden traded Nordstream2 and the autonomous regions and withdrawing support for ISR pipeline for Iran deal.

"Never let a crisis go to waste" has inevitably become governing via crisis.

Russia's income is based on selling oil and gas to us globohomos.

Who is dependent on whom? They can't eat natural gas.

Russia has successfully convinced Europe that it's be stupid to ever trust them as a reliable provider. That will drive them to do whatever is needed to detach from them.

First, I just rechecked FAS USDA and RUS wheat harvest 2021 is over 75mil tons. US produces some 45mil tons. RUS has 10% of global wheat production (not including what they just got).

Second, I don't think the guy with oil and gas is the one on the hook to the guy who needs the oil and gas. This is why ppl seek to have oil and gas and don't seek to be the guy without oil and gas.

3rd, I checked GER PPI and it is near all time highs and going up mostly on energy demand.

4th, the US/UK is far and away the least trustworthy player in Int'l Politics.

5th, RUS is projected to have an 18% debt to GDP. One of the lowest if not the lowest ratios.

6th, RUS has sufficient non-USD assets to survive for approx 3yrs.

The neolibs/globohomo let them break containment. Everything that the post wwii US worked to achieve has been undone. Putin took the UKR years ago, he just decided now would be a good time to make that clear.

Russia has a birth rate of 1.58 kids per woman. You need 2.1 to hold even. Russians don't want to bring little Russians into Russia. They will be dependent on immigrants, but who will want to move to Russia? Why would they?

Necessity is the mother of invention, and Putin has made finding a secure source of energy a necessity. We can thank him for that.

Totally non-reponsive and evasive.

By that arg US citizens don't want to bring babies into globohomo.

We had a thing called the keystone pipline and other things called nuke plants.

And another thing called energy independence.

You think cancelling keystone had anything to do with UKR activities?

The world is reaping what the neoliberal globohomo new world order sowed.

And yes, China will take Taiwan. As with UKR they took it years ago abd are just waiting for the most damaging time to make it clear.

Sorry dude, you'll have to settle for domestic repression of internal enemies.

Oh, you'll have lots of this too!

Wild Bill, Russia has some of the most lenient immigration laws in the world. If you live in an even worse place, Russia will take you.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

So you're saying naf*d is full of shit (as always) and wrong but if we do enough mind-killing then he's right because Russia is bad?

No, I don't want a bloodbath for Russia. I like Russian culture and Russian people like you. I don't want anything bad for Ukraine, either. But we both know that Russia is not threatened by Ukraine or NATO, so any objections coming from the Russian side are meaningless. I am willing to agree that the USA doesn't have some moral high ground, but that does not in any way make what the Russian Federation is doing right. You know that as well as I do.

Fat Cat speaks the truth.

I don't see how Russia invading Ukraine helps average Russians, to include folks like yourself, Wild Bill. It seems more like a vanity project for your leader.

When Russia went through it's dark times and was at is weakest following dissolution if the USSR, NATO didn't invade. That would have been the time.

Why did the Baltic countries not want to be under Russia's thumb? Why does Russia want to force them back in, and Ukraine too? Just be trading partners, and we all rise.

Stopped from doing what?

Regarding the Baltics, listen to Putin's speech the other day. He wants it all back, starting with Ukraine.

I think NATO's goal is war with Russia.
I just do not see another reasons to encircle Russia with military bases.

How do you explaining to yourself why NATO needs Ukraine?
Can you name any reason other than war with Russia?

Russia could still respond, and the losses for the US in this case would be unacceptable.
The purpose of military bases around Russia is precisely to ensure that Russia cannot respond, and then NATO will attack.

Call me paranoid, but I think so.

By the way, Zelensky said several days ago that Ukraine would begin to create nuclear weapons. Or ask the US to give them nuclear weapons.
It would be stupid if Putin did not react to such statements.

Uh, I hope they teach more Russian history than that in your schools. These links might help:

Russian Invasion of Finland (1939): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_War

Russian Invasion of Afghanistan (1979): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet%E2%80%93Afghan_War

...now, I realize that all of this is pernicious foreign propaganda, but perhaps there is a word or two of truth in there. I also left out all of the Russian Invasions in the pre-modern period, and the ones in WWII where the USSR was broadly aligned with the West's goals. I also left out Chechnya 1 and 2 because that was internal. Anyway, you might find something in there that modifies your views.

Here's the point I'm making: neither Russia nor America is pure of heart or completely innocent on the world stage. I personally would encourage some type of treaty that would proscribe further expansion of NATO towards the Russian Federation and look for areas where cooperation can be increased.

Defend itself from Russia, from being invaded like the Ukraine.

If NATO wanted to go to war with Russia, it would have done it already, when Russia was weakest. It didn't, did it?
