Sorinex Landmine homebase

Post by judobrian »

Anyone ever order from / work with Sorinex? I ordered and received the landmine homebase for torso / core work, and it is well put together. However, I had requested the sleeve sized for a standard bar, and received one for an olympic bar. Tried it out regardless, and it is an excellent work out. However, with the difference in calibers, my standard bar will soon warp.

Sorinex has not yet returned any of my emails. Great product, but not exactly what I ordered.

New York Barbells sells a functionally identical product for $39.

Almost functionally identical. One advantage to the Sorinex product is that it does not require bolting or a fixed object to attach to. Don't know that that is a $200 advantage...buyer's remorse setting in...Thanks for the extra info.

That $200 would cover 80% of the cost of a power rack from NYBB, which the linked device attaches to. I'm sure the Landmine is a kickass product, I just see NYBB's as being a much, much better value.

I just laid an old tire in a basement corner and stuck the end of an old six foot standard bar into it.

I use an old pillow folded in half. Works fine.

Finally got a reply from Sorinex after emails (1) and phone calls (1, left on voicemail). We shall see if they send the replacement barrel soon. For the record, I did try some non-equipment alternatives like the padding on the baseboard. However, the landmine works very smoothly and feels better than the alternatives I had tried.
Now whether the New York Barbell product + power rack would work better, that is something I will probably never know. My own fault for inadequate pre-purchase comparison shopping.

Took nearly a month for them to get me the replacement barrel (received it in the middle of May). I sent an email to the VP at 3 weeks, got a call at work from the guy the next business day, and had the replacement in 3 days after that. After I became "unlost in the shuffle" the service to fix the problem was good. The base is extraordinarily stable, and it is a versatile, if expensive, product.
