When I used to use clippers to shorten my dogs' nails, I always got at least one "bleeder"...messy. And the dogs didn't like it, either.
On a buddy's recommendation, I bought Pedi-Paws (like a battery-powered dremel tool with a guard to prevent grinding Fido's paw off). With a little acclimation for dogs, it works great. No sharp edges on nails after grooming.
