Re: Beer!!!
Been in Burlington, VT for the past 4 days and I have to say I really dig the local Long Trail and Magic Hat beers. Particularly dig the Magic Hat #9. We're heading over to the Magic Hat Brewery today
before heading back to Atlanta and the "real world" tomorrow. I love vacation...
Re: Beer!!!
I've tried this beer recently, but I can't find it in many places. It's called Dale's Pale Ale, and it's delicious. Very hoppy, and the fact that it's a microbrew in a can is kind of appealing to me for some reason.

I've tried their other beers:
TenFidy -- an imperial stout (something like 8.5 or 9%; strong alcohol smell, mild taste by comparison; there's no head on the pour, and the texture is just flat, but it got me drunk)
Mama's Little Yella Pils -- it's a refreshing pilsner, but personally I thought it was no different from a nice cold PBR
Gordon -- haven't tried this one yet.
Old Chub -- a Scottish malt liquor. Absolute fucking shit. Sweet with too much malt, and a musky tang to boot. If you enjoy this beer, I feel sorry for you.

Holly Dog shit! Is that a fucking can?
What communist, twinkled toed, cock sucker, poured that glass of beer? That entire picture is wrong across the board.
Moving onto more important news.
Mission Street IPA- sold at Trader Joe's priced right at $5.99 per six pack and is an awesome beer. Big bang for the buck.
Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra- Nice extra IPA with a great hop bite for a finish. A case of this is sitting in my frig as I type.
Widmer IPA- tastes like a pale ale. IMO skip this beer and save your money IGx.

2009's Bells Oberon is not the 2008 Bells Oberon.
It's not bad, but it's less than 2008's nicely crafted summer wheat ale.

Re: Beer!!!
IMO, many craft/microbrews are unbelievably overrated and beer snobbery, while not as bad as kettleball snobbery, can be bitchified. With that out of the way, there are definitely some great ones out there and I hope you all get the chance to pour a pint or three of the somewhat hard-to-find Surly Bender. HOLY FUCK this is a great, great brew. I had heard about it from the shopkeeper at my local liquor store, but after seeing the brewery featured on the news the other night, I picked up a four-pack of pints (sold only in cans) for ten bucks. The founder is fucking Pakistani or some shit, if you can believe that.

Re: Beer!!!
All you cunts worried about taste is amusing. What the fuck difference does it make as long it has alcohol in it? If it ain't enough, all you have to do is supplement with some moonshine, JD or something.

Re: Beer!!!
Laurelwood Workhorse IPA is also very good. Of course they offer their stout as a 'float' (with ice cream), so I can't say they respect their beer.

IPAs crack me up; 15-20 years ago they were nowhere then suddenly people caught on to the fact that you can make a beer with twice the alcohol and shit was on.

Dude, you don't know the half of it. I had what the brewer described as a quadruple IPA last weekend that would peel the paint off your car. Clocked in at 11.5% abv (alcohol by volume).
BTW-It takes real talent to brew a high alcohol beer that doesn't taste like shit.
IPAs are the ultimate hot weather beer.

Re: Beer!!!
Like all things from Canada;Canadian beer sucks!
My brother attended a wedding in Canada a brought home some Canadian micro brew IPA. I gave the beer to the dog and felt bad about it later since it was only fit for pigs.
I post the name later on this weekend. I wasn't interested in finding out the name of the slop. I was too busy finding a couple bottles of double bock to console myself.

Maybe its my unsofisticated pallet but I can't seem to get excited about Belgian or Belgian style beers. Generally, too fuckin fizzy.

Red Brick Peachtree pale ale
A little more fruit flavor (grapefruit) than I prefer, but a decent hop bite. Not bad.

In Eugene, OR there was a microbrewery (Steelhead?) that made an 11% IPA called "Bombay Bomber" and it lived up to the name. Two cups and you're dizzy.Batboy2/75 wrote:Fat Cat wrote:IPAs crack me up; 15-20 years ago they were nowhere then suddenly people caught on to the fact that you can make a beer with twice the alcohol and shit was on.
