Nice way to react to one of your own with a traumatic brain injury who is sent to a horrible front you can't imagine and sees his friend blown up in front if him. I heard some shit about how three tours overseas nowadays was longer than the entirety of WWII. I can't really comment on that, as I'm ignorant on the entire military situation. That said, Afghanistan has been going on for a decade (decades?) and that was a lot longer than WWII. This dude was on his fourth tour.

This is a valid point. I think a sense of futility and mission creep would compound the stresses of rolling, multiple tours, year-in, year-out.

The biggest surprise isn't that this sort of thing happens, but that it doesn't happen more often.....
