Decided it was time to rejoin the job market after taking the last year off to look after my daughter. Received two job offers this week and a call back on a third. The call back was on a gov't job, it felt great to say no to that one. This will be my first corporate job and I had to convince them I wanted the position (pay and responsibilities are considerably less than my last job).

Corporation X knew I had accepted another job that I was to start on Monday. They crammed three days of interviews into a 4 hour interview yesterday and extended an offer to me three hours after that.

I'm gonna miss all the international travel in my last job but I think I am doing what is best for my young family. Bigger upside for the job I chose. I just have to work for it.

So it has been a long day of phone calls with HR and the job keeps getting more and more appealing. My manager will be based 300 miles away in Seattle and all of my coworkers except for 2 will be ladies between the age of 25-35. I met most of them yesterday and they look like they will be easy to spend 8 hours trapped in a room with. This is an aggressive, results driven organization, it attracts girls that work hard and party hard.

Luongo won me the Olympic Gold medal but it is time for him to leave Vancouver. This is best for both him, the organization and the fans. I wish him luck and I look forward to having Schneider as a full-time goalie. Since we are talking hockey, I have to support the Kings for the cup. Jonathan Quick is light's out and we are watching a special run right now for him and the Kings.

I agree he might end up in Tampa, it seems like all aging goalies from Quebec spend their twilight years in the sunshine state.

Great stuff Jonny, cutting my work to 3 days a week to be involved in bringing my girls up was the best thing I ever did.

Lemme state for the record I applaud your choice. I stay in this particular profession because I want my wife to be able to stay at home for the kids. If we could afford to do it the other way round, I would in a second. So, congrats on your job and good luck.
