Crossed

Post by Shafpocalypse Now »

Comic book series. Survival horror. Extremely brutal and graphic. The artists and writers are legitimately sick fucks.

I can't seem to stop looking them up and reading them. Gave me nightmares last night, even

An image some will appreciate

crossedcomic.com for their web comic, which is just as graphic as their print books.

Been wondering how this was. I've read some of Garth Ennis' stuff and it's all been awesome.

It's all torture porn, take the worst crap of Saw or Human Centipede or Hostel and then magnify it by a thousand. The issues Ennis wrote are the best of the bunch. The other ones tend towards shit in writing and graphics. I also can't stop reading them. But if I could unread one it would be Crossed: Psychopath. Thinking about that one makes me feel physically ill, and that's saying something given how bad all the others are.

That is very helpful.

It is the worst by far. Just supremely fucked up. On the other hand, I wanted to see how becoming crossed would impact the psycho.

I was surprised in the original series and in Family Values they ended with a glimmer of hope. Badlands has been all bleak so far.

I was talking to a young friend about these, he says he can't read 'em. I'm surprised I can, I don't know why I have to just keep on looking for them.

It's like slowing down to look at a crash scene but then driving past again and again to get a better look. I don't know what that says about me.

I think the point of that series was the psycho was Crossed. He couldn't get worse. It was an interesting contrast how they treated that subject to that old guy in the first series, Geoff.

When do they get really fucked up? I'm only through chapter six in the first volume, and even though they're kinda screwy, they're not the worst thing I've seen or read. Maybe a little desensitized and prepared from reading this thread?

I'm not sure I'm looking forward to reading more, but they are pretty instantly addicting.

The Ennis stuff is a bit twisted but good. I think they get real nasty when other folks write the follow up stories. Trying to keep up with Ennis and all that.

I see. I've got a ways to go.

I'm kind of nervous after reading Shaf's posts.

Is that because your ability to recover is diminished as you age? Or because the brutal nature of the comics = need for first aid post self-abuse?

The details get me.

For example, the crossed who wears a skinned face as a loincloth with his dick sticking out the mouth

Haven't gotten that far. I may be missing some things in the illustrations. It is a fairly perverted piece of work.
