Dan John's new Never Let Go

Post by Gary John »

I can't really say too much, cuz he's my brother. For me, nice to be able to hold it after all the year's of trying to read his stuff on the computer.

Here is a review from Randy Hauer:

This is a great book to have.

I haven't revisited most of Dan's articles since they came out, and there is a ton of practical, useful shit on all sorts of things in the book.

I am really enjoying the book as well. I like Dan's writing style and this book is loaded with tons of great info. I am doing some of the tabata style workouts that Dan covers in the book using Hindu Squats and Goblet Squats which are simply brutal!

Fantastic book full of practical advice that is not only useful for IGx internet studs, but real life older clients. Younger chicks too. It's got it all.

Yes, VERY good. I love Dan's humor and his combination of what works for him, what works for his teams, and what works for no one.
Plenty of stuff here. Combined with BB,, you really have lots of material.

I notice a trend. Saying something bad about Dan John on IGX is like giving a shitty review to a Holocaust film. It just isn't kosher. FWIW I ordered a copy. I am trusting you fuckers. Don't betray me.

I fucking hated Schindler's List. And The Pianist.

The Pianist was unbelievably bad. "Piano player gets a shitload of people killed, does nothing brave, runs away, and lives on to play the piano."
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

It just all boils down to the simple fact that Dan doesn't make grandiose claims and will admit when he is wrong.

He doesn't claim to be promoting world altering fitness training he is simply providing advice that is straight up common sense.

And it doesn't hurt that he's a damned nice guy.

Do you recommend the original or the remake?

Remake? Somebody tried to remake a Mel Brooks film?

Never Let Go is very good. First of all DJ can write. Second of all he does have something to say. Thirdly, he has a great sense of humor and uses it well to bring his points home.
It's a story book, mostly, and that works very well. Too much of a stretch to call them parables or fables. Best book on training I've read in awhile.
Marty G's style is sad, mannered and hackneyed by comparison.
