Puppy Linux

Post by nafod »

My old computer up in the family room, used to do a little web browsing, shit itself. Probably a flub on the hard drive. Stuck in and endless reboot cycle. It was running WinXP, had some slow processor and only had 1GB RAM.

So I went looking for a Linux install. Settled on Puppy Linux, as they advertised easily booting off of a CD-ROM. Downloaded the 300 MB ISO and burned it to CD on good computer, and stuck it in the bad computer after pointing the boot to the CD-ROM and presto! Boots right up in 20 seconds or so, and has a good enough web browser to do everything we need to do. It Just Worked. Gets my recommendation.

Cool. Plays flash? Video streaming OK?
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

How easy is it to control the volume?
