am exhausted. what my daughter is going through is eating me up, but it won't kill me. I listened to this while doing part of what Joel Jamieson calls a recovery workout. i did 20 minutes of cardio with my heart rate over 100 and what he calls being in the blue zone which is about 70 to 80 percent of your max heart rate, but if you take your HRV within 30 minutes of waking up with his app, the blue zone will shift every day according to recovery . The HRV app is not accurate for me, but it also takes my heart rate, which is useful to know . Today, it showed I was in pretty poor shape for a workout, which I was.
Yesterday I was exhausted and doing double kettlebell front squats. My polartec cap was pulled too low over one eye which fucked up my form on the last heavy set. On the last rep which I was sure I'd get I went a little too low and couldn't get up and dropped the kettlebells and there's a hole in a tile on the floor. at least i'm not injured. i never missed a rep before. there's always a first time. now it seems pretty funny but wasn't yesterday.
Dan John says the goal is to keep the goal. Mine isn't to lift heavy. I don't have the body for it or care. I video each set and study them. It's a worthwhile thing to do if you don't have a trainer. I spent a number of months doing double kettlebell front squats and finally videoed myself and was not enough close to parallel. I reduced the weight a lot and started again.
Joel's recovery workout is supposed to help drive blood flow to the tissues and drive metabolic systems that promote recovery, improve breathing and mobility. Supposed to take 30-45 minutes. Instead of doing the last part of his protocol, doing 3-5 minutes of breathing to try and get my heart rate to within 5 beats of my average morning heart rate and some mobility drills, I'm writing this.
this just came up on my playlist. i played it a lot when my daughter was in the cancer ward and wasn't sure if she'd survive.

Jimi Hendrix at the Monterey International Pop Festival in June 1967. He was an unknown to almost everyone in America at that time. I heard him at the Fillmore East in Manhattan May 1968 with Sly and the Family Stone who had one hit record then. I could not believe the sounds he was getting out of his guitar. I thought he had to be in a studio to do that and went into shock seeing what Hendrix did with his guitar, as you'll see in the video of a song that had been a hit by the Troggs.

Even with the lyrics on the screen, I understand maybe 10 % of the song. I never liked the kind of lollipop she's holding, but I thought I understood English. Maybe this is Ebonics

I haven't heard this in at least 40 years. When I bought the record in 1976, I wanted to buy a black leather jacket like the one he had on the cover. I never did. You can't get everything you want in life. It would have sat in the closet for 45 years anyhow. I am a lot better off not getting a lot of what I wanted. Now, I try to be grateful if I don't get too much of what I don't want.
