The Triumph and Tragedy of World Class Championship Wrestlin

Post by Holland Oates »

Motherfucker what a depressing trip down memory lane. I didn't get mugged I got my fucking head kicked in.

I saw a lot of faces from my childhood that didn't live to see the age I am now.

If you are a fan of Pro Wrestling then you need to watch this documentary but don't fucking drink and don't do it if you are already depressed or you may end up like 3 of the 6 Von Erich brothers.

There is no way anything could be as bad as Scott Hall's E60.

It is a bit depressing but nothing as bad as that.

Fine, I'll give this a shot.

The Scott Hall thing fucked me up worse than the Larry and Muhammad 30 for 30.

Not a big wrestling fan anymore, but Cornette's perspective on the old stuff is worth listening to.

Thanks Turd.

I'm not a fan anymore but I love watching the old stuff. Check out the Art of Wrestling podcast with Colt Cabana. It's a nice refreshing perspective.

I'll check it out. I check out the Daniels, Punk, and Jericho stuff on youtube once in a while-- it reminds me of the stuff I liked when I was younger.

EZ-- check out Portland Wrestling Uncut. Roddy Piper calls the matches. Uses clips from the heyday of Portland wrestling (when it was a decent territory) that remind me of watching it as a kid. Good production values, and a kind of family style that reminded me of watching a local Saturday morning kids show. I guess one of the networks over there is broadcasting it. I watched an episode or two-- it was a nice trip down memory lane. The people watching was kind of cool too.

82 - 86 was when I watched alot of pro wrestling.

Sgt. Slaughter!
Ivan Putsky
Honky Tonk Man
and of coarse Piper's Pit was my favorite bit.

Any of you remember when they gave Bobby the Brain his own general talk show on USA?
That was some funny shit.

It was something like '87, when we were still in Texas and I was just 4 years old that our pastor told my parents he didn't think it was a good idea for me to watch pro wrestling. He was probably right, but that First Baptist asshole was so uptight that I missed some of the great years.

My dad and I when he wasn't traveling for work, used to watch together.
