I'm at Zucotti Park now. I took some pictures waith my blackberry but they are tOo large to upload. Peaceful scene and most of the remaining cops in riot gear walked away while I was reading the page.
A few protestors are also standing around.

LOL @ this thread. It's a pity I have more interesting things to do right now and can't follow more than once a week. Some good posts from Jag and great entertainment from Darth. Time to take out the propain tanks, bro!

Re: Occupy Wall Street
I'm surprised the owners of Zuccotti Park put up with this nonsense as long as they did.

Luckily, America is kept safe from iPhone-bearing and manicured hooligans like Dorli Rainey by trained police professionals. DARTH can only smile with glee to see this un-American pinko riffraff maced back into her corporation-sponsored cage.

Dorli Rainey, 84, reacts after being hit with pepper spray during an Occupy Seattle protest on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011 at Westlake Park in Seattle. Protesters gathered in the intersection of 5th Avenue and Pine Street after marching from their camp at Seattle Central Community College in support of Occupy Wall Street. Police then began spraying pepper spray...

Re: Occupy Wall Street
OWS sympathizers, what's the solution?
Any person or group can occupy a public area, any time, for any duration? Under any sanitation conditions? Effectively excluding others from using those public areas?
If not, when the police order the crowd to disperse, and the crowd refuses, what's the solution?
Police: "Disperse, or we'll order you to disperse again."

LOL at this bullshit, you seriously demean your self to try this line. How many homeless are currently in the city of Seattle, living, eating, sleeping and shitting in the city streets. But they don't warrant police crackdowns like this do they? Or what about a commensurate and proportionate application of the law? Macing grandma? Bashing little asian women in the stomach with batons? Get fucking real.
Meanwhile corporate thieves skate.

Re: Occupy Wall Street
The homeless in Seattle are routinely swept from public spaces and are a major expense on the city. They also do not congregate in the kinds of numbers that OWSers have. In fact the OWSers are taking away many resources normally afforded those who are homeless despite the VAST majority actually having real homes.Fat Cat wrote:LOL at this bullshit, you seriously demean your self to try this line. So I guess I will repeat the question you were posed. What is the solution when this mob, who is taking up public space and money, does not obey direct orders?

Dogs and fire hoses? They're engaging in nonviolent resistance. Using violence against them works in their favor by creating sympathy in the middle.CharlieBob wrote:The homeless in Seattle are routinely swept from public spaces and are a major expense on the city. One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

Re: Occupy Wall Street
LOL
This is turning out so awesome.
Word to the wise if the police tell you to disperse you had better get to stepping. Less than lethal control measures are not always effective or less than lethal.
The political correct thing is to use pepper spray, bean bag rounds, tasers, and dogs rather than good old hands on force. The command staff and city managers push these less than lethal control measures and that's why you see little kids and old women getting pepper sprayed.
I'm still not a fan of a lot of the douchebags involved but I'd like to see this get bigger.

Re: Occupy Wall Street
There are a significant number of criminals within the OWS movement. These folks are there to cage free food, get high, and steal whatever they can get away with.
The big issue is that OWS has nothing to police their own movement. Some psychopath with a knife wants to rape and steal, what the fuck are they going to do about it? It's a wolf in sheep's clothing amongst the flock.
The cases of police brutality and overreaction are getting a fuckton of press. The cases where things move along peacefully, aren't.
The OWS basically want instant welfare by gathering and protesting. They want local places to feed them, house them, and clean up after them. If they would police themselves, this wouldn't have been an issue, but there seems to be a big sense of entitlement at the street level.
