misses the point entirely - looking as ordered at the shocking events that only matter if we force ourselves to care on the other side of the world distract attention from what's right in front of us. Ivan's been good for that for an awful long time, and very useful in the reduction of our civil rights and the increase of our home grown police state. This is also why there will always be a Kim in NK and how come Castro outlasted them all. Iran and Afghanistan, too, of course, plus all the proxy war sites. Minor shit that doesn't matter at all but gets the sheep to bleating while Oz works his wheels and levers behind his curtain, dig? Since crime rates are down across the board, look for a new drug or gang or other frightening onshore trend soon. We need more cops and soldiers, so we'll have to have a controllable panic or three.Gene wrote:The US needs to mind its own fucking business.

Re: Russia and Ukraine
interesting.

Apparently the Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet confirms the authenticity of the leaked conversation with EU's Catherine Ashton wherein they admit the Maidan snipers were hired by opposition. Lest the zealots whine about this recording being a fabrication from RT, this is also noted in the EU Observer. Apparently we have reached a time when leaking of diplomatic cables is the norm - good. It's mostly boring in the beginning and Ms. Ashton talks of IMF 'help.' However, go to 8:20 for the juicy material.

Re: Russia and Ukraine
It's also been confirmed that the guys raising Russian flags in Crimea were in fact well-known Russian (as in, they live in Russia) nationalists, not Ukrainian citizens living in Crimea.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.
Re: Russia and Ukraine
Propaganda from both sides reached strange point. When nobody knows who belongs whom :)
There was video where one rebel pushes police with bulldozer.
Interesting guy :)
First he was active member of UNA-UNSO (ukrainean nationalist).
Then may be he quarelled with them, don't know, but then he was seen on Seliger. Its place where gathering pro-Putin youth. There he tought how to act against revolutions.
And then on maidan he again with ukrainean nationalists :)) on bulldozer.
I am give up.
But Crimea is Russian :))

Re: Russia and Ukraine
Bill, that story tends to support the "Ukrainian plumber" article I posted.
Messy situation, and as far as I am concerned, if you guys want Crimea, you can have it.

Re: Russia and Ukraine
I joked :) For me words "Crimea is Russian" the same as for you "Obama sucks" :)
Its like hero of one popular comic show. There "average Russian" watchs tv-news and gives funny "not formal" comments :)
But now in news often says how important Crimea for Russia, so... it seems separatists will be supported.

Funniest part it is noone wants them in EU. It is just "assosiation". Not membership.unknown wrote:a 15 bil to join russia as a gift or 35 bil debt to join eu?

I agree that these characters need boogie men. Obama probably does need a crisis or two to get his poll ratings back up. Get the rubes all wound up. Give him something to feel Presidential about.

Re: Russia and Ukraine
Why can't we just take over Russia like the Chinese did after WWI??
"Know that! & Know it deep you fucking loser!"

Re: Russia and Ukraine
Nice billions of your tax dollars to the Ukraine today, whether you live in the USA or are an EU subhuman. I'm glad to know that our leaders are so proactive and forward thinking, seeing that I wouldn't be putting my share to good use and that there are no problems closer to home.
My SIG can beat up your SIG.
Re: Russia and Ukraine
Like Venezuela, where we should send in troops, kill ever commie cocksucker there and get that oil back in the hands of US Oil companies and let the people establish a US friendly government.Garm wrote:Nice billions of your tax dollars to the Ukraine today, whether you live in the USA or are an EU subhuman. Because it is our back yard, like the Crimea is Russia's porch step.

Re: Russia and Ukraine
As long as it's equally ethical for any nation who doesn't like what we do with our oil or the political views of some of our citizens to send troops to visit us, your position is morally defensible.

Re: Russia and Ukraine
When trying to understand what happens in the Ukraine, Crimea (as well as Iraq, Afghanistan etc.) I think people must read these two books: 1984 by George Orwell and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. If you don't you fall for the marketing rhetoric of governments and news agencies.

Facts are such, that ukraineans didn't wanted EU, and because of that EU made there "revolution". To set new "goverment".
"Goverment" wich will do right choises :)

What the distance fro Mars to Upiter? :)nafod wrote:What's the immigration rate into Russia?
You trying to prove that EU richer than Russia? :) and who arguing with it?
But noone called ukraineans to EU. It was agreement about assosiation. Not membership.
Did you read that agreement?
Re: Russia and Ukraine
Bit old but still holds up.... I heard talk of this from Chinese born colleagues, who claim at least some of the Russian Far East was "once Chinese land", taken from China in the "unequal treaties".nafod wrote:What's the immigration rate into Russia?
http://www.novinite.com/view_news.php?id=142169Chinese migration to Russia, including illegal migrants, is estimated by most independent experts at between 300,000 and 1 million people.

I am showing that in general tons of folks immigrate and join into the EU, and not so much Russia. That is because they are acting in their own interests.Wild Bill wrote:What the distance fro Mars to Upiter? :)nafod wrote:What's the immigration rate into Russia?

Russia's economy is based on natural resources, and so is very vulnerable to price swings and alternative sources. The EU doesn't need to invade anything, just find their energy somewhere else. Russian oligarchs be looking for a new dictator pronto.

Reminds me of the story of how our Marines take a beach (combined arms assault) versus how the Chinese take a beach (everyone puts a handful of sand in their pocket).Gene wrote:Bit old but still holds up....
