Arms are the only true badge of liberty. The possession of arms is the distinction of the free man from the slave.
I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery.

Re: Russia and Ukraine
Some serious shit there... I didn't believe that Crimea will be ...hm... "returned" to Russia. Now i will not even try to gues how situation develop.
New Ukrainian government do all what they can, to give Putin proper excuses.
One "good" thing that all those burned separatists revealed to be citizens of Ukraine from Odessa.

Yeah that fire was fucked up.

Re: Russia and Ukraine
On the political front the fire in Odessa is a PR disaster for the Ukrainians. It even conjures up images of Nazis burning people alive in churches or public buildings during WWII. When your enemy is calling you a bunch of Nazis, this is not the situation you want unfolding.
I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that Eastern Ukraine will be Russian owned by the end of the year.

Especially that it were Ukrainian Nazis who burned Khatyn (not germans).Batboy2/75 wrote:It even conjures up images of Nazis burning people alive in churches or public buildings during WWII.
And new Ukrainian government adopted slogans and flags of those Ukrainian Nazis.

Re: Russia and Ukraine
I don't think Russia will ever move troops into Ukraine. Whoever has influence over the events will keep the place unsettled for as long as they can. The West is not interested for Ukraine to get under the Russian wing, while Russia is not interested in Ukraine becoming Westernized and join NATO. Keeping the place inflamed will give both Russkies and Yanks the excuse to wave dicks at each other and get military budgets swelling, with respective increase of employment in the sectors and political points.
Besides these two major interests there are a bunch of smaller players: Germans who are dependent on Russian gas, Poland, Romania, Moldova and Belarus who have differen takes on the precedent in case federalisation of Ukraine does take place. Finally, arms trading countries who are interested in ongoing conflict.
Meanwhile the wankers on the ground get caught in the nationalist/independence rhetoric and are led easily by thugs to kill each other. I am afraid the place is likely to become the second Syria, where Russia is backing the government and US is behind the rebels, incidentally ultra-religious Wahabies. Never mind right or wrong, neither will lead to peace in the near future.

I am also sure it is impossible.Smet wrote:I don't think Russia will ever move troops into Ukraine.
The same as i was sure that Putin would not accept Crimea's referendum :))
Re: Russia and Ukraine
But Crimea little different. It was worth of quarreling with whole world. Bases for fleet... etc
East of Ukraine maybe not worth it.
I personally think that after Russia accepted Crimea, they thought that they also will be accepted if they organize similar referendums, but... they are not so important as Crimea.
Maybe after more blood... maybe after provocations on 9th May or something.
And i still can't calm myself... it was only one year to next elections! But E.U. didn't want to wait. Now they get what they did.

Re: Russia and Ukraine
You keep saying the EU did it but those aren't Germans and Italians in Kiev. The Ukrainian people there did this.

Ukrainians just started this. But then...Fat Cat wrote:You keep saying the EU did it but those aren't Germans and Italians in Kiev. The Ukrainian people there did this.
They supported, provokated, promised something... etc.
All big bosses from EU (and U.S.) were there. And they openly called for the overthrow of the legitimate authorities.
Just imagine how much it cost. About 3-4months so many people stayed there.
They must eat something. They must shit somwhere.
Someone must take avay shit.
Someone must organize military and medicine support.
manufacturing Molotov cocktails were put on conveyor.
There a lot of money and organizational work.

Re: Russia and Ukraine
And all those people did not work all this time. It means someone paid them.
Re: Russia and Ukraine
Of course it could be not only E.U. or U.S.
It could be Ukrainian oligarhs. After all they rules now.
