Sean J. Hunter is possibly the most retarded person on that board. That thread is full of over thinking and fail.
I do really like that Justin Lascek though, since he isn't just some random koolaid drinking asshole.

Starting Strength Coach Certification
The Aasgaard Company is pleased to announce that starting in early 2010, we will be offering the Starting Strength Coach Certification program. The December 12-13, 2009 Basic Barbell Certification in Wichita Falls will be the last one offered in conjunction with CrossFit, Inc., with the complete fall schedule remaining as it is.

Rob has provided his idea of what our Practical Max should be, I'd be interested to hear where you're at.

Re: The couch thread
Just a matter of time. a few cf friends told me of this recently. Do not think it is Couch Dbaggery but just human nature of unwilling to play second fiddle for less money. Just like Mike, Martone, and the Steve's at DDOur first priority is to assure you that there will be no disruption to the remaining Crossfit Basic Barbell Certifications that are currently scheduled. We then look forward to a continuing relationship with many of the excellent facilities we have previously visited, as well as the inclusion of new venues that are dedicated primarily to strength training. We are excited for this new way of offering our expertise and experience to the strength training community. And we hope to see you soon.

Re: The couch thread
This is the thing, POD me lad.
1. The endurance athletes are mostly coming in to XFE with their training mileage and base established.
2. Most endurance athletes are, by nature, complete fucking plodders, and do not know how to get on the stick.
3. The XFE training makes them stronger, and gets them to go faster.
4. The combination of those two things works remarkably well in the short run.
5. When the endurance adaptations fade, bye-bye performance.
Now, granted, I haven't bothered to look at the XFE wods, and don't really care to, but if they think they are going to do an olympic or ironman length triathalon and run no more than 4 miles at a pop, and bike no more than 12 miles, and swim no more than quarter miles, then they are going to muck it up.
Hey, JR, why is Martone playing 2cd fiddle again, then, with XF?

Re: The couch thread
I don't know how long this will last. I had a friend attend a Martone cert this weekend at a Cultfit gym and Mr. Martone was not bashful in telling them that sacrificing form to decrease time was stupid, the kipping pull up was a waste of time, and that there is not enough strength training in Cultfit.Shafpocalypse Now wrote:Hey, JR, why is Martone playing 2cd fiddle again, then, with XF?
And he's playing 2nd fiddle to Cultfit the same reason as anyone else with any credibility. $$$$$$$
I'm sure there were some other tidbits but that is all that comes to mind right now in my sleep deprived state.

I tried to look at the website and I get this.

But you look in the Google cache and it's there right up to 9-21. So is it a technical error or did Couch pull the plug on the young upstarts? No CrossFit Affiliate site was found...sorry.

I had a dream last night that couch called me.
It was a videophone call, and he was wearing white toga and laurel leaves on his head like a Roman senator. We spoke of gin, and forgiveness, and about a fondness for large breasts.
It was beautiful.

The only one that would need your advice is someone lifting LESS than 200lbs.am deadlifting around 200 for work sets these days and still feel less inclined to offer advice to bigger guys who clearly need it. But admittedly, I lift at a powerlifting gym. I think that just means is more people are deadlifting there than at typical globo gyms...not that more people are DLing particularly WELL.
No but doing fran in a real gym makes you look foolishIn the middle of a Fran. ON my way to a pr time. Some Beau Brummel who is there quite frequently, doing smith machine squats, has the nerve to grab my freaking bar while its overhead, and slowly lower it to my chest. I yell, yes, literally yell at him "What the @$^!# are you doing!?!"
He then looks at me, bewildered, and says "Listen kid, if you lower it slowly, you get a better workout." , has I jerk away and continue my workout he mumbles "Whatever, you are never going to get ripped that way."
WTF? NO ONE, interrupts my fran, NO ONE.And don't even get me started on that termagant that was critiquing my kipping pullups.
Just because i'm a kid doesn't mean I am foolish.
Of course, unless you kicked him with your kipping. I like Twight on kipping "do it until you get strong enough to do real ones"Seriouslly, does this guy still have all his teeth?
