Welbourne should tell CFHQ to pound sand. Not for nothing but CFFB is a good fucking program. It actually makes some sense off season for sure. John and Rob could get some guys on board (Dan John, Rip) and make those pussies eat shit.

Westside will NOT stay around, I have met a few of those guys and they have no tolerance for bullshit. AJ Roberts got asked a question about doing curls and other "non functional" exercises by this douchfitter and he just glared at the guy and simply said "the strongest men in the world do curls so it's good enough for me" Tate jumps in and states "nothing beats strong, period" that marriage will not end well.

CF Endurance has no need for CF and Coach B. baffles me with this. Now a suplement company comes into play. lulz on that
Don't know if you've met Burgener, but I have. He's good through and through. I think the only reason he stays is because he keeps his distance. At the seminar I went to, he let couch do his thing for the morning and basically stayed in his office most of the time, or he chatted with some of the @fitters he knew (side note: Eddie Lugo was there; not sure about the Mrs.). The afternoon was Burgener's with no input or interruption from the couch. I don't remember seeing him at all in the afternoon actually. Mrs. Couch was around taking pictures and video, as was @fit's own Goebbels, Bony Pudding. I also think Burgener likes some of the dudes still hanging on, like J. Everett and G. Everett. Who knows.

One thing I regretted was not going to the "after-party" at Burgener's. I decided to take the wife to the nearest Indian casino for a little donation to their cause. I might've seen first-hand just what all this partner swapping shit was about.

Alas.

Let me share a difference between a bit of scientific fact and applied clinical knowledge.

Dr. Sears, when asked about sodium intake, offered that sodium retention was governed by aldosterone and that aldosterone was controlled in turn by insulin, which is ultimately controlled by carbohydrate intake.

I asked later who knew what to do if a client found herself very dizzy on standing days after being put "in the Zone". Nobody knew. The answer is/was "get her to salt her food and see if it goes away".

Same mechanism. One clinical knowledge the other not. We need a cert based on successful clinical experience.

Our old cert was sketchy on science, at best, and entirely bereft of clinical knowledge/experience.

It's entirely my fault. We're fixing it.
Listening to this fat fucking bitch tit mother fucking drunk ass talk about nutrition is like listening to Jenna Jameson lecture on virginity.

What started the whole tizzy in @F land...Greg Everett speaking on @Fers needing to correct their crappy OL technique (this is not the whole video).
http://www.sicfit.com/speaker/main/vide ... ossFitters

Several days ago, a new article in the @FJ pops up--with Burgener correcting a guy's snatch form! Links to short vids here:

Article here: http://journal.crossfit.com/2009/12/coa ... hobart.tpl
Coach B Corrects James Hobart
By Mike Burgener
December 10, 2009

At about 180 lb., James Hobart can snatch over 220 lb. He’s clearly a great athlete who’s ready for very specific criticism of his technique—and Olympic lifting expert Mike Burgener is ready to provide it.

But rather than overload Hobart with endless minutia, Coach B keeps it very simple during a recent snatch session. His main concern: Hobart’s bottom position. The athlete’s shoes contribute to some instability at the bottom of the overhead squat, and things get more wobbly because Hobart rolls forward onto his toes and swings his hips back to initiate the drive out of the bottom.

Burgener’s recommendation? A steady diet of snatch balances followed by overhead squats with a focus on driving through the heels and keeping the torso vertical. Given Hobart’s athleticism and power, the owner of Mike’s Gym believes the young athlete will be fully capable of snatching 275 lb. within a year if he improves his bottom position.
This just goes to further demonstrate the snow job that was pulled on Everett. Burgener is saying exactly what Everett was saying (although Everett was generalizing vs. Burgener's one-on-one), and what Burgener recommended--specific technique work--is exactly what Everett was recommending as well.

What a way to run a business.

Is anyone else turned on by this? I have never wanted to be a med ball so much in my life. To quote one of my favorite people who just told me a long fucking story about a rock "God Damn! That is one fine piece of ass." I think we should reserve the @fit bashing the silly fucks from HQ. I think crushing these women for posting pix of themselves working out in outfits I have to pay 20 bucks to see at the strip club is retarded. We should be celebrating these self-absorbed and narcissistic broads. Time to get another pint of safeway gin. Maybe I should start posting on nutrition with a bunch of incoherent shit. His babble that just leads me to believe the couch is on his last legs. He has reached his 4 dimension of reasoning, he has gone full retard and the ship is going down. And a quote for the couch, because I know he is following this thread....Say, man, you got a joint? No, not on me, man. It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

If you're wondering where the results from those games drug tests are, keep waiting. The testing was a bit...well, let's call it "haphazard". Like names not being attached to samples. Like not everyone getting tested.

Lotta love on the Rob Wolf blog

Nick W

I posted the following on the Affiliate blog, I’m not sure if it’ll be approved or deleted so I’ll cross-post it here. The first paragraph is a quote from Glassman, the rest is my response:

————

“Robb,
The difficult thing about sputtering infantile rage as a business tactic is that it serves no winnable strategy. You are still confused by the logic of quality and quantity in clinical nutrition, their remarkable interdependence, and our track record on the subject. Your claim that people have gotten results abandoning the starting proportionality makes my point (reread the parts about accuracy and precision and you’ll see that manipulating, massaging, or drifting (or “abandoning”) the starting proportionality is essential to clinical nutrition and dialing in a diet. We differ in that your public claim is that weighing and measuring do not work and are not useful. That you think you can do without weighing or measuring food and clients is proof to me that your claims about your education and being a scientist both need examination. BTW, I’ve seen your CV and so have a lot of other people.”

The problem here, Greg, is that this isn’t an accurate reflection of Robb’s position at all, and it’s a bit rich to snipe about “bad reading” on Robb’s part only to twist 5 years’ worth of Robb’s forum posts, nutrition certs, Journal articles and blog entries so badly.

This isn’t the message that Robb promotes at all. He disagrees with Sears’ (frankly ridiculous) assertions that exact portion control is more important than food quality, preferring instead to eat real food over ding dongs and McDonalds burgers. You know, kind of like the first part of the nutritional portion of “World Class Fitness in 100 Words” that you wrote way back when, which is: “Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar.”

That doesn’t mean he says portion control is unimportant. It doesn’t mean that Robb is telling people never to think about portions, or never to WAM. It’s simply a difference in priorities, and his view of “quality first, quantity second” seems to be shared by a LOT of people and backed up by a LOT of real world data. But Robb also talks and writes about the Zone, portion control and balancing macronutrients a lot; the difference is that he isn’t tied into pushing a fixed macronutrient ratio because he hasn’t got a dozen books to sell based on a single premise. So he can discuss the Zone and the Athletes Zone, but also modifications to it (e.g. the “42 Ways…” article, deleting carb blocks etc.), Intermittent Fasting, VLC diets, unweighed Paleo, Paleo + dairy and more. His typical recommendation is to get lean by controlling intake and to use performance and how you feel as feedback; you know, kind of like the second part of the nutritional portion in 100 words, which is: “Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat.”

And if you care to look, you’ll never see a rabid adherence to any of these approaches; you’ll see informed discussion of their benefits, drawbacks and potential uses, along with the regular advice to “try it for a while and see how you look, feel and perform”. Robb isn’t trying to ram anything down anyone’s throat, he presents options and asks people to work out what’s best for themselves (ironically, exactly the message in Dave Castro’s journal video a few days ago). The examples he cites of athletes moving from strict Zone to unweighed Paleo and seeing improvements are just that – real-world examples. Again, this is a far cry from telling people it “does not work and is not useful”.

It’s a real shame to see this level of obfuscation and misinformation. Your condescending tone towards Robb is also unnecessary and childish. Sadly, you’ve taken a situation that was already badly handled and bodged it a little bit more. And I’ll brush over the irony of you calling out Robb on his “claims” to have gone to medical school when you have enough unsubstantiated claims of your own to deal with (where ARE all the CF-built 500-750lbs deadlifters by the way?)

Better than fuckin tv =D> =D> =D>

The answer to that is buried deep in the vault. Or Couch's gut. The testers and the hastily collected samples just disappeared in the middle of the chaos...

Edit: but you'll note that there were no high profile changes to final placement of the competitors.
