LMFAO @ Brendan the Xfit laughing stock with the town slut. How do you like Severn's sloppy seconds? Get down there and work that thing and let us know what his dick tastes like.

Get ready for the flood of comments from @fit about how these Olympic athletes could be so much better if they just did Glasshole WODs.

Can you imagine how much better Shawn White or Appolo Ohno would be if they did kipping pullups and PVC cleans with 20% slop?

Forget this specific training

Otis the drunk could school any of them.

Just a little Saturday morning reading to get the hate worked up. Funny how every other strength and conditioning professional in the world is wrong about @fit, but teh couch is correct. This guy seems to hit the nail on the head and my guess is the hive will get riled up and the thread closed soon.

http://www.board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=55494
I think its funny that every time some authority in strength and conditioning world opines on crossfit everyone is quick to dismiss it as of course crossfit isn't the best for specialists thats the whole point. What lyle claimed was much more substantive then that, he claimed, that crossfit was not the best way to get good at anything including crossfit. Here are the points I extract from his posts.

1. Aerobic Base is not developed effectively over the long run by interval based conditioning. Elite athletes including power athletes spend significant time in low intensity exercise base building.
2. Strength Work is Primary in GPP strong athletes adapt to crossfit quickly the converse is not true.
3. Traditional strength and conditioning methods are have been successful for a 100 years we know largely what works crossfit has not produced anything new.

I think these are fair point and ones that he has some data to back up himself up with particularly on the point about strength. The problem with it is most people do not have time to do hours of tempo work on top of hours of strength work on top of hours of skill work. The appeal of crossfit is the idea you can get most of the these benefits from 5-30 minutes 5.5 days a week plus warm up and warm downs.

Crossfit + Zone/paleo works for most people purposes, losing fat, feeling fit enough to accomplish most daily tasks and adding a bit of muscle. It is not clear to me that the potential for injuries and adrenal fatigue that come with the program are necessary to attain those benefits. As far as developing elite fitness or performance I think crossfits claims of achieving that are underwelming, I would listen more to coaches who have produced and work with olympic and NFL/NBA major sport league level athletes for how to achieve that.

Tony,

So, what you're saying is that this workout has been programmed for quote some time - as part of a progression right? It's just a coincidence that it is the exact same workout as that of one of the Missouri sectionals?

Please elaborate how this workout fits into the overall progression of this month/quarter/cycle.

Thanks!

The Wiki site has been locked due to an editing war. It is also being threatened to be removed because the wiki reads as an advertisement. Are any of you versed in trademark law?

They are arguing that the photograph does not fall under the fair-use act of the TM law. My argument, which someone on the wiki supported was that the image comes from a freely distributed document (the PDF for RRG), that the image is being used for educational purposes (as part of the wiki), which should under the fair-use act allow the image to be used.

Also noted is that the folks are arguing that we here at IGX are in a war to discredit the couch and cite this thread as proof.

Comments are welcome, valid case law or knowledge preferred.

@fit football is still unlocked on wiki. I say post it on that @fit wiki article.

That's not the issue. The issue is that the photograph is being contested as a violation of trademark law.

I can understand how a specific image of Couch might be copyrighted, but I'm having trouble with the notion that an image of Couch might be a trademark.

This isn't a trademark issue. You trademark a name. You don't trademark a photo. That falls under copyright.

If the document in question was freely distributed, then they've got no real grounds to stand on IMO. It falls under fair use.

They may have some licensing voodoo to fall back on, but that would be listed in the source document itself.

Thanks Jag. My bad on trademark vs. copyright. The document was definately freely distributed. It was an advertising document for the RRG.

Then it's in the public domain. Was there a copyright notice in the document re: the photos? Or did the photo bear a copyright mark from the photographer?

If they're correct, then I guess wiki will need to pull these photos as well and all other such photos.

Here is the document. You tell me. The photo is not copyrighted. There is a copyright on the document but it does not refer to the photograph itself.
