Has anyone seen Couch do one? Maybe it's on a xfit video clip?
Cooch is down with muscle ups if they include a box of twinkies and a litter of cheap vodka.

I take huge offense at these internet assholes hanging on the
nuts of the military.

Glasshole's panties are in a bunch, cuz he isn't the only one
different forces are bringing in to teach.

Most of you fellow combat vets are probably choking on the same bullshit.

I appreciate that, unlike 99% of the rest of the media/internet that only discusses the military when they've tortured prisoners or had their legs blown off so people can feel sorry for them, they celebrate it.

It's pretty clear that Twight used couch's copyrighted material and sold it as his own. That's illegal.

True, he has been very pro military from the start. Is it out of true admiration or is it being used as a selling point to pick up more converts to his system who want to use the same fitness system as used by the "elite of the military"? I don't know the answer to that one but I hope its out of sincereity.

I believe that Twight was providing instruction to the military before he was CF certified and as I mentioned before, if he paid the money and did the cert doesn't that mean that he can use that material for his own? What about all those affilitates out there making money off that system? Couch showed a small portion of the text he mentions in his attack piece, cf is cited as a source so credit is given.

Yes, this is the equivalent of a Mike Mahler starting a company separate from Dragon Door. Perfectly legitimate and happens all the time. The difference is Couch's unbelievable hypocrisy.

CF is the Scientology of the fitness community.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

No, it doesn't, any more than your buying a book means you can now copy the text and place it under your own copyright. Do you think you can buy Pavel's book and then take it verbatim (or paraphrase it a bit) and sell it as je5333-fit? Twight took couch's stuff and placed it under his own copyright, which means he can sue YOU if you use it. But he said on his web page he'd "take it to the streets" in that situation.

I've always been pretty much in Twight's camp on all the whole BS, as he's had enormous street cred with me, but this looks pretty damn clear cut. I'm curious to hear the other side of the story.

Nafod,

That isn't quite as clear as it seems. How who got what and what is might be and it ain't what you think it might be.

Hope that clears it up for everybody.

It's one thing to mention working with members of the Military ( If true) in your copy TASTEFULLY,but to scream it like that, is low.

It's kinda like a certian Publisher, who screams it, and some is true, but they'd have you beleive they've trained half the USMC, and what not, but give a pitifull discount and make the process of large orders and implamenting Systems impossable.

Sometimes when you do work with a group of service members, and don't mention it, they do.

Ok but if I were to clearly state, part of my program is based on CF and this program changed the way that i approached fitness. But then I go on to present an entire system which maybe 1/4 th is based on the stuff found at CFHQ what then? This seems to be on a personal level between two big names in the fitness club.

Exactly, most of this is stupid, who cares?

It is yet another thing to highlight what jerk and self absorbed asshole Glassman is.

And hey those Military folks went to Twight and not Glassman, and I know lot's of Mil personel no of X-Fit, so maybe they surfed the web, saw X-fit's sight and Twight's site, saw that alot ( Not all, I know some who are not Moonies) of X-fit is jerks trying to make themselves Puke and the leader spends half his time talking shit about people and claiming he all but owns Fitness, on top of not walking it like talking it ( and Operators hate that shit.)

Then you go on Gym Jones, and the presentation is better, it's challaging, kinda calling you out, but does not claim to be everything and the folks at GJ all have interesting profiles.

I watched the "Making 300" HBO special again last night. One of the things that was so obvious is you couldn't have had Couch there instead of Twight. Twight talks about fitness and he looks credible. Couch looks like he spends all day deep-frying Twinkies. They may well have picked Twight over Couch solely because he looks like he might exercise.

And yet when they bought what twight was selling, they were really buying coach's product, right down to its "molecular foundations". Heh.

I don't follow. What does this have to do with Couch being a fatass who is therefore unmarketable to Hollywood?

It means they're the kind of people who buy what's in the box because they like the color of the gift wrapping. Shallow and stupid.

I just noticed on Co-instructor (and co-author of Starting Strength) Lon Kilgore, Ph.D.'s website:

Doctor of Philosophy - Physiology
Department of Anatomy and Physiology, College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University

"Yea, I have a Ph.D. in Physiology from a college of veterinary medicine."

Those motherfuckers could know it backwards and forwards for all I know. One things for sure, everybody at that cert is going to be there to "get their form down"...not pull enough iron to bust a blood vessel in their eye.

I'm not a PL'er and I don't want to be one, but I got mad respect for those motherfuckers that live it, train it, compete it. And I know that the deal is like 25% science, and 75% balls.

I just hate to see these dweebs putting their watered-down yuppie spin on it. They need to stick to parkour and swinging around on rings and shit.

I was wondering when this would happen:

Workout of the Day April 7th, 2007

http://crossfit.com/

15-12, and 9 rep rounds of:
Back squat
Handstand push-up

---

One of my problems with Crossfit has been it's avoidance of general hypertrophy loads (8-12 RM). Recently they started doing sets of 3's and 5's, due probably to Rippetoe working with them.

Anyways 3 sets of squats at 15/12/9 is just...short. And not much of a workout.

At least they are diversifying more. Adding grip work would be good as well.
