Re: The couch thread
A further look in to that nunchuck affiliate's blog showed that the affiliate owns both a Hummer and a Smart Car (both given Valley CrossFit decals - or are they custom paint jobs?) and the affiliate owner himself drives a Porsche.
Surprisingly, he only charges $150 per month, which is on the low-end for CF gyms.
Yes, I edited my username too, upon someone else's reasonable recommendation. I'll change it again when I can think of a better variant. POD's just the first thing that came to mind, as sad as that is.

Got my sights on a Lambo though.

You are probably right. If you got a Lambo you and him could race. POD would probably wear a bikini and be a flag girl if you gave him a porn dvd.The Nightman wrote:Nice. I am just wondering why POD's sex life seems to be the focus on this thread.Damien wrote:I'm not the most seasoned IgXer, but come on... you're on IgX, on the couch thread, defending religion, morals and POD?Fish wrote:

Now look. I've eaten a pice of pie.
When we spin the pie again, the area cut out of the volume of the sphere equals fitness.

If it wasn't bad enough for @F that anyone who's been around a barbell long enough says that strength is the foundation for GPP performance, Coach Sommer even adds his opinion on the gymnastic/calisthenic side of the equation:
Ouch. From a real gymnastics coach who still trains...that must really chap couch's ass.As has been shown repeatedly over the past few years within the fitness community, depending on an athlete's training background and the type of metcon workout involved, there may be a month or two of adaptation to new exercises and the metcon format, but very shortly after that adaptation period the much stronger athlete will begin to utterly dominate weaker athletes in metcon performance; regardless of how much longer (weeks, months or even years) the weaker athletes have invested in making metcon training their primary focus at the expense of increasing their foundational strength.

That's a guy in a gi walking, toward the right of the pic. Picking the wedge out of his ass. And another gi sitting on that bench, with a belt. Is there real martial arts training going on in that Crossfit environment?WildGorillaMan wrote:she looks like she has to poop.

Yeah I think they have a legit BJJ program. I've seen more than one Cultfit affiliate that offered either BJJ or Krav Maga.JimZipCode wrote:That's a guy in a gi walking, toward the right of the pic. Re: The couch thread
From the SF News article comment section:
I needed a laugh today.
Gaymes.Greg Glassman is a joke. His entire program is a knock off of John Jesse’s old wrestling material from the 1970’s. Glassman grew up right down the road from Jesse. Glassman was a teenager in Pasadena while Jesse was making a name for himself in Hermosa Beach. Jesse’s wrestling book was published in 1974, which ironically is the same year Glassman began coaching right down the road from him.
What is even more comical is Glassman’s repeated reference to his own elitism as an athlete. He was so elite that he doesn’t even have a picture of newspaper clipping to show for his past success. I give him credit for building what he has. Not too many overweight alcoholics could have done the same.
He is always one step ahead of the game. First, he tried to say that Crossfit developed world champions and Olympians, but when he didn’t have the names to back up his claims, he went off and created his own sport. The Crossfit Games are ingenious. If you can’t develop anyone for any legitimate sporting events, why not simply create your own sport.
He then tries to legitimize the gaymes by saying that no other professional athletes can compete with his Crossfitters. He conveniently overlooks the fact that none of his Crossfitters can compete with any legitimate athletes in any legitimate sports. Take his top finishers and drop them off on a football field, a basketball court, or maybe even inside the octagon. They will all get crushed.
Crossfit is all about giving hope to the middleclass corporate professional. Let him feel special working hard for 20 minutes. Give him a feeling of superiority over others. Let him feel like he is a pro at exercising, since he isn’t good enough to be a pro at anything else.
I wouldn't mind CF if they just admitted what they were, rather than trying to pull the wool over our eyes making claims about elite hogwash.

Re: The couch thread
Blair Lowe describing his close personal friendship with couchTrixie", I do know Greg Glassman somewhat personally. I do not know if he would recognize me by name, but by face he would or if I a context was given who I am known to associate with in CrossFit. Greg recognized me either at the NorcalGamesQualifier or at the CrossFitGames last year besides 2 CrossFit seminars he attended to observe but not coach at a few years back. I definitely saw Greg at the Games last year but I thought I saw him one day at the NC Qualifier but it could be my memory betraying me ( too many head injuries ). Generally, all we do is say hi in passing but we shared some words during one of the seminars ( I don't think he attended the 2nd but he attended the 1st I was at [ which was actually the 2nd since the 1st was a small test-run of that seminar type ]).
Yes, I do know that Greg can be an ass. It's why I hate and love him. I'd honestly say some of my favorite coaches I ever have trained or played sports under exhibited such a characteristic.
