“In some instances, at Florida State University, for example, black men comprise nearly 70 percent of the football team, yet just over one-third of those black male student-athletes will graduate,”
The numbers are on par for graduation rates of black males in the US overall.

Graduation rates for college athletes are far higher than the general public believes. Football and women's bowling are outliers though in the former, a clear difference does exist between white and black players.
I didn't intend to make my post about blacks, I was googling on FSU and graduation rate.

I think a school should expect a higher grad rate from athletes than from the rest of population, particularly in revenue sports. To do less is to fail the students.
Fair enough. I am not going to do the search now but would venture that most athletes are on par with the rest of the student body if you figure graduation rates in the same way. Of course football is a notable exception and you could probably come up with a long list of reasons, the cash that it generates being near the head of the list.

Serially impregnated by a never ending line of sperm donating Madden kings until they end up becoming 35 year old grandmothers raising their grand kids and a stray niece or nephew to boot.

You beat me to it Kaz, as I was scrolling down, I thought there is no way these two have the same father. Went on a cruise with the bride a couple of years ago, there was a herd of about 6 or 7 black women. All over 250 lbs and spoke so loud they sounded like a herd of elephants rumbling through the ship. Glaring at all the skinny white women.

Of course, this guy had a perfect GPA when he was recruited which is impressive considering the time he spent in playing football/baseball, robbing stores, shooting people with pellet guns and raping co-eds.

The big issue with college sports is:

Players get fucked and the big sport institutions and the NCAA make huge, huge fucking money.

LeRoy might get a full ride, gets redshirted, then his junior year fucks his knee up and voila...no more support, despite this fucking kid basically sacrificing his body for NCAA.

It's a meatgrinder. It starts in Pop Warner and it ends when some poor bastard retires from the NFL with 139 concussions on record and maybe another 100 that weren't recorded, with orthopedic issues that leave him a cripple now that he's not moving and training and getting painkiller injections frequently.

The glorification of professional athletes in the bread and circuses atmosphere of the US is the issue. Fuck all professional sports.

NFL Scouts Impressed By College Quarterback’s Ability To Elude Criminal Justice System
SPORTS NEWS IN BRIEF • ISSUE 50•01 • Jan 7, 2014

TALLAHASSEE, FL—Agreeing that the young phenom has what it takes to escape responsibility for his actions in the big leagues, a group of NFL scouts confirmed Tuesday that they are incredibly impressed by a local college quarterback’s proven ability to elude the criminal justice system. “From what we’ve seen so far, this guy can maneuver around just about any accusation you throw at him,” said Jacksonville Jaguars director of college scouting Kyle O’Brien, who speculated that the budding signal caller’s unique ability to sidestep serious criminal charges under pressure would lead him to a long, fruitful career of committing heinous crimes and then somehow being exonerated for them on a professional level. “Nothing sticks to him. Even when he’s facing allegations that could do irreparable damage to his reputation and career, he’s the type of natural athlete who is so slippery that he can improbably find a way out. You just normally don’t see that kind of evasiveness in a felon his age.” O’Brien noted that, as has been the case with many successful athletes in the past, the quarterback’s imposing capacity to commit an unspeakable crime and then avoid any kind of consequences whatsoever is only made possible by those around him, including his school’s athletic director, a cooperative state prosecutor, and the media.
Don’t believe everything you think.
