Disclaimer: You cannot learn meaningful martial arts from a DVD or book. This is doubly true of 'internal' systems, and probably doubles again for this specific system. It ain't easy. However, if you know or are learning a system and need some memory help for your solo practice, DVDs and books can be a useful resource.
Liu Xiaoling is a DC area hidden treasure, and this might be the best IMA DVD I've ever seen. You can switch between various angles of the form, jump to any section or movement via the menu, select applications for form movements (I always find this helpful - visualizing the enemy make the moevement easier to remember), and 'zoom' from the form itself to detailed instructional material that pertains to it.
I liked it so much, I immediatley ordered his 'Wudang Qigong' DVD, and I'll post a review when I get it and spend some time with it. IG Seal of Approval.

Very cool that modern film making and communication skills are conveying subtle arts.

Re: Liu He Ba Fa - Form and Detail
It occurs to me that there's some possible confusion. Lu Xiaolin is a female DC area modern wushu coach. She's been featured in 'Inside Kung Fu' and the like a hundred times, because her school always takes most of the trophies at national-level wushu events, she's coached the USAs world team many times, etc. You can take Xingyi, Taiji, and Bagua classes at her school, wushu standard format.Garm wrote:Liu Xiaoling
Liu Xiaoling is a male DC area IMA sifu from Shanghai, who teaches all of the above plus Liuhebafa, tongbi, pigua, etc., in traditional as opposed to modern sportive format. Their names are pronounced almost exactly the same.
