http://www.board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=43234About a week ago I casually tossed a iron plate on top of another plate and the resulting clang of the iron produced a buzzing in my ear. I still have a bit of a "tinny" sound in my ear, although it seems to be gradually subsiding. Can anyone explain what has happened? Could I have suffered a slight but permanent hearing loss? Needless to say I'll be careful in tossing the plates around from this point forward. I guess this is another good reason to use bumpers.
Thanks

The best I could muster would be "Banned for Trolling," or "Banned for Verbal Attacks Against Reputable CrossFitters." The second is a pretty long title, but has no where near the punch of "Integrity and Ethics."

I've got to say that the none of the CF postergirls are to my liking. They might be hot, but they border on anorexic or butch at times, and the whole camwhore/soft pornstar thing on the CrossFit website is entirely unattractive. Call me old fashioned, but I'd much prefer a nice girl with a personality and self-respect. Not to mention, I wouldn't touch any girl Glassman has had his way with... Do you think I want syphilis, or something? I know there are cures for it now, but I'd much rather avoid the hassle altogether.Joe wrote:Banned for "Violating" the entire inventory of 2009 EvaT calendars?

Pat - Enjoy your stay here at Irongarm. Your views on women might be "challenged" to put it mildly. It could get interesting.

That Joshua Murphy is an impressive MOD. Apparently he'll toss a thread into the Bucket for almost any reason.

The CrossFit prescription is “constantly varied, high-intensity, functional movement.” Functional movements are universal motor recruitment patterns; they are performed in a wave of contraction from core to extremity; and they are compound movements—i.e., they are multi-joint. They are natural, effective, and efficient locomotors of body and external objects. But no aspect of functional movements is more important than their capacity to move large loads over long distances, and to do so quickly.

Re: The couch thread
Aside from the breadth or totality of fitness the CrossFit Program seeks, our program is distinctive, if not unique, in its focus on maximizing neuroendocrine response, developing power, cross-training with multiple training modalities, constant training and practice with functional movements, and the development of successful diet strategies.

Doc: Many of my patients shouldn’t be doing the deadlift.
Coach: Which ones are those, Doc?
Doc: Many are elderly, marginally ambulatory, and frail/feeble and osteoporotic.
Coach: Doc, would you let such a patient, let’s say an old woman, walk to the store to get cat food?
Doc: Sure, If the walk weren’t too far, I’d endorse it.
Coach: All right, suppose after walking home she came up to the front door and realized that her keys were in her pocket. Is she medically cleared to set the bag down, get her keys out of her pocket, unlock the door, pick the bag back up, and go in?
Doc: Of course, that’s essential activity
Coach: As I see it the only difference between us is that I want to show her how to do this “essential activity” safely and soundly and you don’t.
Doc: I see where you’re going. Good point.
Coach: Doc, we haven’t scratched the surface.
