Re: The couch thread
When it comes to CF, I can take all the running around and getting tired, because for the most part, they seem to be having fun. What is harder to stomach is the proliferation of "coaches".
Becoming a "coach" takes a while. And the designation should be applied by those with real authority. And that doesnt mean CF level 1.

Kind of like a lot of kids soccer or little league teams-- 'coach' is whatever parent finally relents so the kids can play.sigifrith007 wrote:When it comes to CF, I can take all the running around and getting tired, because for the most part, they seem to be having fun. Re: The couch thread
yes. but coach for a little league team or for a 10 year old soccer team is more like "sir" or "ma'am". Some of these fuckers actually think that their CF coach is qualified to coach them in gymnastics, OL, PL, or some other shit.
Just letting off steam. FUCK. FUCK. FUCK... this gets my blood pressure up more than explaining why a 30-30 isnt the ideal deer rifle to an inbred hillbilly.

As an inbred hillbilly I take offense at your last sentence. If you ever saw The Beverly Hillbillies you'd know we could shoot the wings off a fly at 500 yards with a snub-nose 38, you cross-eyed yankee.sigifrith007 wrote:yes. but coach for a little league team or for a 10 year old soccer team is more like "sir" or "ma'am". No RRG lulz...
Muscle swelling in arms
I'm a female and started crossfit training about a year ago. Recently, I did the 'Angie' workout (involving 100 pullups - assisted & 100 pushups etc). This resulted in severe swelling of my arms and I was in a great deal of pain. l was told to rest, compress and ice them which helped. However, since doing 'Angie', I'm finding that whenever I do any upper body work-out, my arms start to swell up again and become painful. I also seem to have lost overall strength in my arms & upper body - so instead of being able to lift heavier weights, I've had to drop the load to levels I first began training with. I would appreciate any advice on what I should be doing / not doing so that I can get back into ejoying my work-outs instead of dreading the outcome.

Re: The couch thread
We do stupid things, like 100 rep challenges, cuz we like to do stupid things. We go in, knowing how stupid it is and realize that there may be stupid results.
X-fit puts out a stupid thing, say Angie, and the sheeple just run out and do it.
Thinning of the herd.

It is not zoning restrictions, it is asshole restrictions. If a few people were working out at a neighbors house, I could give a shit but like with everything they do they have to fuck it up. If I had to watch a bunch of butt pirates running (badly) up and down my street in between the other dunb shit while blarring bad music and wearing vibram 5 finger shoes, i would complain too.but the business simply is not legal in a residential neighborhood.

Re: The couch thread
Wonder how many destroyed shoulders, knees, and backs came from the Midwest @F Gaymes Qualifier:
And then to polish it off, on Day 2 (Day 1 was the first three workouts), we have very high rep Olympic lifting. I have to wonder how many lumbar discs will be on hiatus for a little while. Too bad the @Fers will write it off as a good thing...pain is temporary, being a fucking tool is forever.
Am I the only one that notices something that is supposed to establish the "fittest man/woman in the world" (as declared by Hooch himself) didn't even test maximal strength? No running either, unless you count plodding at a 8:00/mile pace for ~1/4 mile after destroying your spine with 30 C&Js. These fuckwits can't sprint and they can't pull heavy weights, yet they get to think they're uber-fit? Haha! Looking at the pics, I have to wonder if shirts were forbidden for the men.
Let's see...we have high rep, high weight (for @Fers at least) deadlifts. Then an exercise that even Hitler himself hates, the Thruster, done with kettlebells.WOD 1 :
21-15-9 Reps of
Deadlift - Men 275LBS/Women 185LBS
Pullups - Chest to Bar
For Time!
WOD 2:
7 Double Kettlebell Thrusters - Men (2) 24KG/Women (2) 16KG
11 Burpees
5 Rounds for Time!
WOD3:
Row 2000M - Damper 3.5 for all competitors
For Time!
Final:
30 Power Clean and Jerk - 135 Men/95 Women
One lap around Rogue - approx 450M
30 Power Snatch - 115 Men/75Women
For Time!

From the looks of it, a lot of it is outside too. That probably would cause a zoning violation. The number of trainees could be an issue too.CultBuster wrote:http://crossfitlp.com/

I'd imagine running a cult is much like being a politician...you first have to control the language. Control the language, define the words yourself, and you'll find yourself with a loyal group of parrots, repeating your words with no idea what they mean or how to apply this "knowledge". But they appreciate you making them sound smart.WildGorillaMan wrote:Some Couch-isms don't sound so much like training methodologies as they sound like lyrics that Jim Morrison scribled into his notebook who out of his mind on mescaline and Jack Daniels, and later discarded because he couldn't come up with a decent rhyme for them.
Is @fit the axis that intersects the planes between chemically-fuelled delusions of grandeur and dingbat stream of consciousness ravings?

Reading more comments on the affiliate blog lambasting Pod:
Jilly G, #17, almost made the mistake of thinking with her questions. Luckily, she found another glass of the Kool-Aid in time to buy into an "insurance program" when she doesn't even have any fucking clients! Just so y'all know, I'm gonna go ahead and get some insurance on my Ferrari...I don't own it yet, but I figure one day I might need it.
Someone else's ill comments cements that CrossFit is the shit? I think most religions are much like this...the more you point out their flaws, the more people further ingrain their beliefs to justify them. And "we will all prosper"? Sounds like socialism to me.We, CrossFit Affiliates, should focus our sights on how terrific our Community is and all of the great people who attend our CrossFit facilities. Silence is the best response to someone's torments and ill wishes. Their remarks further clarify my vision of how fantastic CrossFit is and how much they're missing out on.
It's an open blog and anyone can post what they wish. It's where we set our focus that separates us.
The RRG will succeed (regardless of time) and we will all prosper in the bountiful benefits of each other's successes.
