F Dynamax. It's a good list and all, but it gets gay with definitions. How do you measure speed? Line up 8 black guys and see who hits the tape first. If you can look at Usain Bolt and even think of an argument why he's not the fastest man, you are gay and/or a @Fer. And really, if your event involves arguing about how to measure "it," your event sucks. PL? Heaviest weight. OLY? Heaviest weight. Speed? Who comes in first. Ball sports? Whoever scores the most. SM/HG? Weight and/or distance. Fighting? The guy standing up. @F? Uh...er...uh...FAIL.

If you want to know about functional fitness, watch Braveheart. If you can do what Mel Gibson and his posse do--from fighting, fucking, running, throwing rocks, riding horses, and cutting throats--you're good.

Context defines fitness...pure and simple. What is fit for Sumo is not fit for Triathalon, and vice versa.

Anything else is just a bunch of smug yuppies who aren't particulary good at any one thing trying to feel better about their mediocrity.

If that's the litmus, then all you need is a blood test to determine fitness. My money is on the primates with the highest testosterone levels.

Strength, aggression, and low emotional intelligence trump all when the rule book goes out the window.

I always thought a degree of tightness in the hams/adds was protective and productive, for many sports. Detrain the normal stretch reflex , and...it might impair lifting & running ability.

Anyway , JMO.

You don't need to be as flexible as most gymnasts or distance runners. You're right that too much flexibility can destabilize the joints.

Went by Sherdog today.
These guys are decently smart.

Q: What/who is crossfit?

A: Crossfit is a bunch of directionless, GPP nazis, who wouldn't know program progression if it hit them with a 45lb plate and will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes. It's interesting to note that due to a rip in the space time continuum a copy of the glossary was e-mailed to me from 2020, in which crossfit were described as "A bunch of directionless, GPP nazis, who were the first against the wall when the revolution came". (twenty points for the reference) In all seriousness, crossfit are at least somewhere along the right path, they follow a different workout each day and tend to focus more on conditioning than on max strength. While they are better than the vast majority of machine based, cookie cutter routines, we believe that there are better ways to train. To learn more go to www.crossfit.com

Firstly, that's the very first time I've ever seen that adjective used to describe something from Sherdog.

Secondly, that leads me to believe that you are sighting someone specifically intelligent. Who?

It's in the FAQ on the conditioning section.

You know what the fucking problem is?
It's gotten so far that everything that resembles a mix of max strength and endurance training is fucking labeled crossfit?

What the fuck is wrong with you. The plan called ofr a bunch of max attempts, some running and endurance stuff. What the fuck is wrong with that shit. The problem with @F is not that they mix max strength work with intervals and running. Hell no. What the fuck should be wrong with that?
It's the stupid ass elitism coupled with fucking huge egos and a complete lack of eduaction concerning weight training history.
Fucking cult. As if couch invented the fucking light bulb. Give me a fucking break.
And now you are starting to slip into that realm as well.
How the fuck does that set-up resemble crossfit. there are no fucking pvc pipes, no wall-balls and no fucking spastic-kipping around.
So what the fuck makes that @F?
God I hate fucking @F.

Now look. I've eaten a pice of pie.
When we spin the pie again, the area cut out of the volume of the sphere equals fitness.

And you would be right, Bogy-Treb.

@F is, as a movement, interested in two things: Leanness and feeling superior to someone.

Kelly Starrett tells a tale of actual @F trained athletes in the CFSF blog....collegiate rowers who've used @F to help them get to the national championships.

http://sanfranciscocrossfit.blogspot.co ... again.html

I'd like to see how that yearly cycle went, with regards to @F style work and sport-specific work.

That guy really is Xtreeem. I wonder if he's been recruited by @FHQ yet. He hasn't even ratcheted up the intensity enough for us to see his (or his awesomely belted and gloved spotter's) 20% slop...
Holeee shit. Mainpage pic today, the hood is gaining ground as a must-have for super-duper work capacity...

Damien, 10 points for the hate, 10 for the anger, and 10 more for the substance. @F will claim any conditioning workout that contains more than exercise or is done for time.

Good call, Shaf.

I'd like to see him do a write-up on his blog. KStar's @FJournal stuff gets some added kool-aid before publication.

you're right. the only thing that really resembles crossfit about that set up is taking yourself too seriously... #-o

Awwww snap. Glasshole discusses how strong he got as a gymnast. "I was a good gymnast, bordering on great, but not great, but I was a very very strong gymnast."
