It's gotten so far that everything that resembles a mix of max strength and endurance training is fucking labeled crossfit?
What the fuck is wrong with you. The plan called ofr a bunch of max attempts, some running and endurance stuff. What the fuck is wrong with that shit. The problem with @F is not that they mix max strength work with intervals and running. Hell no. What the fuck should be wrong with that?
It's the stupid ass elitism coupled with fucking huge egos and a complete lack of eduaction concerning weight training history.
Fucking cult. As if couch invented the fucking light bulb. Give me a fucking break.
And now you are starting to slip into that realm as well.
How the fuck does that set-up resemble crossfit. there are no fucking pvc pipes, no wall-balls and no fucking spastic-kipping around.
So what the fuck makes that @F?
God I hate fucking @F.

Dead silence from the crowd.
couch says it was a joke, they should be laughing.
Crowd then laughs heartily.
Lesson: do not laugh at the cult leader unless he says it is okay, especially when he talks about his "athletic prowess from the past".

Really? The handful of elite track cyclists I've met look and lift like college tight ends. They take shits bigger than Couch. At best, they'd ignore him and laugh at him like everyone else. At worst, they'd filet his punk ass with a chain ring.Couch wrote:If you could beat me in any one of those domains, I'd CRUSH you in the other two.

It looks more like a very bad dip for a push press or jerk. Like he's bending backwards from the knees instead of flexing at the hips to get into the dip.

Re: The couch thread
Yeah, too much flex can undoubtedly decrease other attributes like strength. But my feeling for a set of tests like this, where you're trying to divide up different elements, is that you want to be able to say something like "your flexibility is excellent but your strength sucks" and recognize both of them (even if overall you judge that to mean they're a shitty athlete).Trebuchet wrote:Is that positively correlated with health or might it confer an injury predisposition?Brandon Oto wrote:Flexibility:Straddle (split).
I always thought a degree of tightness in the hams/adds was protective and productive, for many sports. Detrain the normal stretch reflex , and...it might impair lifting & running ability.
Anyway , JMO.
Anyway I had that one pegged as a full splits (groin to ground) gets you the top score. You could definitely argue that it should be less, but it does seem like that much flex can be useful -- think hockey goalie, gymnast, rock climber, MA, excellent positions for deep squats, that sort of thing.

Flexibility is merely helpful. It is far from necessary. Putting flexibility on the same tier as strength, power, and coordination (as relates to athletic performance) is silly.

From Cultfit Greyskull Gladiator Academy

That's the owner of Cultfit Greyskull on your left. Not exactly your typical Cultfitter.
Interesting Fact: Picasso carried a revolver loaded at blanks which he would draw and fire at people who asked what his work "meant". I love this idea and will be adopting a similar practice, firing at guys who ask how many Zone blocks they should be eating if they want to gain weight, women who tell me that they don't want to "get big", and anyone who wants to talk about their "WOD" while eating a pre-measured number of raw almonds, wearing Vibram Five Fingers, and some tough sounding slogan bearing t shirt from their hometown "affiliate".

Usain Bolton of Jamaica is the world record holder at 100m. Check out this video. Seriously, he pulls up at the end to bask in the glory of kicking everyone's ass. This dude is FAST!
The athletic ability of the 100m/200m/400m sprinters is amazing. I don't doubt for a moment that any one of the competitors in this video would walk into One World and perform well in any workout. Elite sprinters are super strong, and they can crush all the short distances we typically run in Crossfit (200m/400m/800m). Wouldn't it be awesome to see Usain Bolt give Fran a whirl?

Freddy has been exposed to the red drink, but he has his head on straight most of the time. At least he gave Bolt his props (sad that we're suprised when @Fers do this). I don't get the Fran shit, though. It's like having Fedor come to your gym and asking him to run a 10K.
Re: The couch thread
Yeah, there's a big general problem here, which is that if you're going to divide things up that way, you have to decide how to prioritize the various categories. A lot of the fitness spats on the net or in real life come up because one group thinks the shit they focus on is the most important (say strength) and another group thinks theirs is (say endurance). For instance, CF is really heavy on conditioning (basically metabolic and muscular endurance, as I've laid it out), which means they'd probably say their ability in that realm is "more important" than their agility or their speed or whatever. This is kind of philosophical and hard to argue meaningfully about.Gin Master wrote:Flexibility is merely helpful. It is far from necessary. I just had it as each category is valued equally (you average them together). If you don't like that, and many won't, you can just use each category individually and don't try to combine/compare them at all. I don't know of any better way you could do it except by assigning the categories somewhat arbitrary weights.

1. WTF is a "greyskull"?
2. What's the obsession with death, skulls, etc.? I'm not surprised, such things are a sign of a society's decay. The Romans were obsessed with death before their fall as well. I'm just wondering why these clowns all think it makes them bad ass.

I think it is funny how most of the responses over on the forums consist of the same generic answer, something along the lines of:
"We are not training for specifity. We are a broad based, inclusive program designed to make you fit across all levels of intensity and time domains. We are the functional kind of fitness that police officers, soldiers, martial artists and everyday people that need general fitness to mow the lawn, pick up grocery bags, or play with their kids. You never know when something during your 9-5 desk job will call upon you to push weight over your head and do pullups until you puke. Crossfit will prepare you for that. We are better than gay, unfunctional bodybuilding routines that prepare you to do nothing more than to look good in spandex. Now stop fucking questioning our god and just do the main page WOD you dumbass. The people that put together the workouts know way more about programming than you ever will. Conform to our ways or die. Crossfit is taking over the world, and you are with us or you are against us.
Hile Glassman!"

I wonder why he has never posted a picture or newspaper referencing how fucking borderline-great he pretends to be in his dreams. How the fuck has not a single dipshit from his fucking cult called him out on this? You can't just walk around and call yourself a former fucking president. Shit is archived! This fucking dipshit never did anything! How can you be great but you never competed in anything and never qualified for anything.
I guess that is great in the cultfit world? Great in your own mind against multiple domains of bullshit and different brands of gin.
