Re: The couch thread
Today's stupid exchange on mainpage:
Reasonable question:
Many sports injuries are caused by rapid changes in direction. Many older folks injure themselves this way as well. The joint must be stabilized in all directions to prevent these injuries. Hence, the need for multi-directional agility and/or strength training. If its not part of your training, it should be. Venturing a guess as to whether or not someone is going to blow out a knee isn't the same as being educated about strength and conditioning and the how the human body responds to stress.
Reasonable question:
And, answer from someone who is most likely sitting in the corner eating paste:Since Tony Budding has been talking about the logic behind workouts and programming and indirectly answering some of our questions, there's something I would really like answered:
Why is there a complete lack of lateral movement in CrossFit??
Articles in the Journal are always talking about CF applicability to sport, and how the movements we perform (specially those involving explosive hip extension) can directly translate to better performance in sport.
However, for some reason lateral movement, a motion common to several popular sports including basketball, football, soccer, rugby, volleyball, and boxing; is completely absent from our workouts??
Now don't get me wrong, I love CrossFit and all its methods/philosophies, but in my mind this is something they've gotten very wrong. Any explanations?

Dear Craig,@2 PVB: If you or your athletes need specialized "lateral movement" training, add it to your workout or warm up. CrossFit's specialty is not specializing.
That said, lateral movement training is like training to climb stairs. CrossFit athletes can climb stairs pretty damn well, but you don't see any programming for stairs in the wods. I'd venture to say that CF athletes can move from side-to-side pretty damn well too. At least thats what our soccer, football, volleyball and other athletes tell us.

Imagine how awesome Barry Sanders would've been if he'd focused JUST on general conditioning!

LOL at this fool. Right, if you have a skill, just add it to your warmup and then do the WOD and you'll be elite. Michael Jordan should have just added a few free throws to his warmup and then done double unders and wall balls so that the could dominate other athletes through competition, not debate. Oh wait.

Re: The couch thread
Any nigga with half a brain would notice that Fagfit ignores pretty much all the typical attributes of athleticism....starting strength, reversal strength, foot speed, ANY kind of speed at all actually unless your sport involves 5-12 minute periods of half-assed muscular endurance....

It was erased from the record by a rogue faggot moderator (FACT: if you are the mod that deleted that innocuous post and you are reading this then you are a true FAG).friedquads wrote:I'd like to know where T200 was on the CA forum talking about the dyke toss. Also erased was the quoting of my comments on Timmy Ferris by one 'Andrew Wilson' who appeared to be a dud with some sense of humor.

T, I've learned that other boards aren't worth the effort. Too many 150# powerlifters and hardgainers whining about not being able to gain weight and in the same breath talking about their sixpack.

But can anyone say that Lynne Pitts is not a dyke? It's not like I said I hate dykes. A dyke is a dyke is a dyke and that's just that.
I'm all for pussy-eating in all its forms.

Just watched this. I've never seen a kipping GHD situp before. But, jackassery aside, my biggest complaint is with the camera work and production. On the DUs, her tits were almost out of the frame at times. And it was actually sped up instead of played in slo-mo. What's wrong with these people?Yes I Have Balls wrote:Someone get ready for a memorial service when this chick dies. Hello Rhabdo

I'm doing my best to educate the affiliates on proper camera work: composition, framing, and just plain being in-focus. The affiliates who are friends of The Gorilla totally get that, generally.Gin Master wrote:Just watched this. I've never seen a kipping GHD situp before. You're doing great work. You should offer a film cert dealing with vaseline on the abs, zoom->jug->slo-mo shots, and flash effects on sheer clothing.WildGorillaMan wrote:I'm doing my best to educate the affiliates on proper camera work: composition, framing, and just plain being in-focus.
