- What athletes have you coached to become successful competitors, at Crossfit or any other activity?
- If the application of Newtonian physics is something that's unique to Crossfit, then how can I avoid applying physics to my everyday life? I'd like to fly someday.
- How can I add more birthday party into my workouts?
- How can I take out physics class from my workouts?
- When will you dwarf the Framingham/Harvard Nurses study as you promised?
- Why have so many people, especially subject-matter experts, left Crossfit on bad terms?
- Why are you at odds with the message board of the company that you run?
- Why is the person who runs the endurance section of your business a complete moron with no credentials?
- Which Games athletes were tested among the "reasonable suspicion screening" clause of the Crossfit drug policy? (http://games.crossfit.com/terms/drugs?w ... frame=true)

(this would be a question he could get away with) Why are the only people tested for PEDs at the @Fit Games determined randomly or with "reasonable suspicion", when a much more intelligent policy would prioritize testing those on the podium at the end? Were any of the top 3 finishers randomly selected for testing? When will those results be posted?

From their drug testing policy:
Furthermore, @Fit recognizes its responsibility to provide performance-enhancing drug and supplement awareness, to ensure fitness and life choices that are consistent with @Fit’s models for fitness and health.
Methinks they help out a lot of their favorite athletes with their "PED awareness", in the forms of sources and cycle advice.

WHo at HQ would have a clue about cycles?

Bmac would quit at week 6
Castro clearly doean't take enough anti E
You can't inject Gin, so couch is out
Pudding was involved with "At the chalk board" so his intelligence is in question
Saran seems like he would use the "PED are for losers and cheaters, I'm too cool for that" attitude

Maybe they use the "Hopper Model"? Throw 'em all in, spin the barrel and take two of whatever comes out.

couch, whatever happened to the supposed interest in @F by the Karolinska Institute? I might as well post this gem of a quote from the HMIC in full...
http://www.crossfit.com/mt-archive2/005117.html
Sard,

I'm in Iraq and up early.

Here's the deal. Medical science has something very powerful to offer the science of nutrition. Much of this offering has not been mainstream but nearly all of it came from researchers and clinicians "in the know". The rationale for reduced CHO intake and the knowledge of the perils of hyperinsulinism and attendant metabolic derangement has almost entirely come from physicians and researchers.

We're building a team from these academics and clinicians right now. The biggest problem is not in devising an effective comprehensive curriculum but scheduling, logistics, contracting, etc. Several of our first choice clinicians are quite concerned about being associated with the current offering after having attended one of the old certs. We want to avoid past mistakes and do this right. We also want to get this certification ANSI certified as we've almost completed for our training cert's.

Exercise science is quite a different matter. Here we're going to have to, at least for awhile, forge the way ourselves. I cannot even find a group of exercise physiologists who've been willing to offer a definition of fitness that is measurable and meets scientific muster.

Funny you mention the NSCA's CSCS certification. I lay a good part of the blame for an exercise science that is neither science nor about exercise on the NSCA. The NSCA's response to CrossFit dominating them in the marketplace and staking claim to evidence based fitness that first and foremost examines and studies human performance in universally recognized kinematic terms tied to a training stimulus has been to engage in tortuous interference of our contracts by publicly spreading lies about CF (EG, telling the Air Force that the Navy is suing us, a deliberate lie, sent by email, leaked to us)

I'd like nothing more than to tap into a stream of academics with something of measurable, demonstrable value to offer to coaches and trainers. I've become convinced such a community doesn't exist outside of the one we've created.

The interest in CF from sports and exercise science academics is, however, rapidly growing. For instance, we were just this week contacted by medical researchers from the Karolinska Institute in Sweeden eager to explore the impact of CF on sport performance and health.

Thanks for the civil discourse.

Everyone other than @Fers lets out a collective....duh! Bob Takano infiltrating the ranks with some common sensicals:
http://journal.crossfit.com/2011/08/the ... hybrid.tpl
Consequently, I’ve run into a number of individuals who are interested in continuing with their @Fit training while improving their performance in weightlifting.

The two realms have very disparate goals that often seem directed at cross purposes. The obvious question, then, is how to combine the two in order to achieve the best possible outcome?

Because the physiological demands are so different, it must be understood that combining Olympic lifts with @Fit training will not provide the very highest levels in either. There must be a compromise.
Eventually the @F Journal will start saying such wild things as, "doing @F will really only make you better at doing @F". Crazy.

If you're clearly not talented enough to be the best, and you're not content with being in the middle of the pack then your only choice is to be comic relief, your chosen sport's equivalent of rodeo clowns.
