Re: The couch thread
WGM is an ultra suspect narrator for sure.....Kanadian and really trying to profit like a vulture off the carcass of crossfit.
Every public crossfit persona i've met has been a piece of shit. Conversely most of the actual participants are harmless. For the most part they are just overly sunny dullards. Sort of like evangelical christians youth, Campfire girls and Amway salesman.

So maybe now he's learned his lesson....We've all had our come to jeebus moments. I was a mindless couch attack dog at one time, too. But then I met the man.dead man walking wrote:koolaid aside? how does that work?WildGorillaMan wrote: but KoolAid aside
the asshole was a mindless glassman attack dog. that and "good guy" are incompatible concepts. it may be time to take wgm to a rural retraning camp to get his head right.

Further, who here wants to be permanently judged for the worst things they've ever said?

he's is still running an x-fit gym is he not? so just because he got crosswise with what'shernamethecunt, does it follow that we supposed to cut glassman's former henchman some slack?
perhaps when he repents.

I'll take a wait and see position on this and hope for another xfit train wreck. I'd gladly welcome him into the fold of the Church of Unrepentant Crossfit Heretics (CoUCH-Reformed).

Re: The couch thread
I have thoroughly repented. Really thought about playing both sides, but I am just not that diplomatic and can't keep my mouth shut for long enough.
My original partner in starting an affiliate does strength bias stuff now, with lots of good movement teaching. He had a partner after I left, that guy was so deep in the kool-aid that he didn't see any need to take rests between "heavy" (ahem) sets of squats when they could just as easily fill that rest time with more metcon. Guy couldn't figure out why he kept getting weaker. They have since splintered. Since I know what goes on at that affiliate, I actually told someone I know to check it out when she moves there for school next semester.
I heard from a member that a local affiliate that has a Gaymes-team-in-training, that burnout and injuries are both in serious effect. I'm guessing this is happening all over the country (Kate Rawlings was obviously a high-profile case), with @F casualties higher than usual. It will be humorous to start seeing the evils of periodization and peaking creep back into @F after being vilified since the beginning.

Wow. You guys really get into this shit.
It's funny to see the dipshit stuff they do at some of the @fit affiliates, or hear whatever outlandish claims are made by the @fit powers that be, but some of you guys really take this shit seriously.
GAY.

This isn't life or death, cold war espionage. It's just fucking exercise.
Plenty of companies engage everyday in much worse business practices than crossfit. I know for me the hatred stems not from that but from the fact that they are mutilating the concept of sportsmanship; they forget what every genuine athlete knows almost instinctively-let your actions speak for you. Don't point to the stands unless you goddamn know you can hit the ball there when you want to.

You guys are a bunch of fucking faggots. Maybe if you got off the couch thread and threw a fucking softball for time then there wouldn't be so many threads about how to artificially raise your test levels.
The whole couch thread is just based on the general butthurt here at your inability to see your abs.

Re: The couch thread
Why would I want to see my abs? I thought that was for metrosexuals and teenaged boys...

Re: The couch thread
Really? I can name at least 5 guys off the top of my head who can see their abs on a daily basis and are stronger than anyone here.

Excellent work my young friend.
I don't hate @fit anymore but I live juicy gossip and stories of backstabbing so I keep coming back to the Couch thread.
I wish more guys would do @fit. It means less competition in my weight class
Re: The couch thread
Yeah. I'm genuinely surprised sometimes by how much some people actually care about this stuff.
And I never bought that altruistic bullshit about them bashing crossfit in the hope that people won't get injured. My arse.

I have, IRL, told people not to do Crossfit exactly so they wouldn't get injured. Every relative or co-worker or friend of a friend that I actually knew to do Crossfit got fucked up. Hospitalization for Rhabdo in one case.

"I hate to put it bluntly ---- (and some of you other masters competitors), but have you ever considered the fact that CrossFit might not be good for you as you get older? Especially if you started CrossFitting within the last few years. The wear and tear on the joints and bones really fucks you up. Ask yourself how you got injured in the first place. I was fortunate that I was fighting competitively until I was 40, so I was used to high intensity training, but as I am getting older (46 now with 6 years of CF under my belt), my body is taking much more of a beating. My programming over the course of the year looks nothing like traditional CrossFit programming and over the next few years I see myself drifting even farther away to try and remain healthy. Trying to win $3000 a the CrossFit Games is not worth hobbling around with a walker later in life. Just my humble opinion bro."
And that's about as altruistic as you can get.
