Two Sacramento deputies face federal charges for selling guns that officers and active military members are allowed to own, but not us dumb, hapless non-uniformed folks. According to KTVU in San Francisco, at least two of the guns ended up in the hands of criminals and one was used in a police standoff:

U.S. Attorney Benjamin Wagoner said the deputies were charged with serving as straw buyers by purchasing the restricted handguns. They then sold the handguns at a profit to unqualified buyers through licensed dealers, prosecutors said.

California law bars citizens from buying handguns that have not been deemed safe by the state Department of Justice, but the law exempts peace officers. The deputies are accused of using their peace officer exemption to buy dozens of weapons over more than a year then selling them to others for a profit.

Let me enlighten IGx how this scam came about.

CA approves every single new handgun sold in the State. By law, all new handguns sold within CA have to have a loaded chamber indicator and pass a CA lab ( and pay CA a hefty fee) drop test. If a handgun doesn't have a loaded chamber indicator the manufacturer can just fork over a bag load of $$$$$ to the state and get to sell them anyways. I believe this process must be repeated every two years for any handgun model.

So, as we can see, this has nothing to do about safety and all to do with raising money for CA. Plus, it severely punishes small handgun manufactures who can't afford the tens of thousands the state of CA extorts from gun manufacturers.

Now on to the cop scam. If a handgun isn't on the approved list, LEO is still allowed to buy them. For example, the Rugaer LCP is very popular handgun not available for civilian purchase in CA but cops can buy them. Now, even though civilians are banned from buying them from a FFL dealer, you can buy them from provate parties if the move into state with one and or they are part of a political protected class (LEO) that can privately own them. Off list handguns like the Ruger LCP sell for way above their retail price in the CA private party sales market. Supply and demand; with douchebag LEO in control of the supply.

The officer friendly types in this story where using their CA special privileges to buy non list handguns and sell them for huge profits. But, they got greed and fell afoul the BATF. You are not allowed to conduct business in firearms without a Federal Firearms license. The BATF tracks people that buy a lot of weapons; particularly a lot of the same type of weapons. To make matter worse for our officer friendlys, CA mandates all handgun private party sales by conducted via a FFL. There is a paper trail several miles long on this mess.

Have fun in the federal pen showers officer friendly.

Ahhh, that's how they are being brought up by the feds. It was a bit confusing to some trying to figure out how breaking CA law got them in trouble with the feds.

Either way, the faggotry in this state is ridiculous on nearly every front. Just like that chili dipping congressman who pushed the empty carry ban that went into effect.

My buddy is a sheriff's deputy and thinks that ban is the dumbest thing possible. From his point of view, he figures that someone openly brandishing a firearm isn't likely to do much of anything afoul of the law. After all, what kind of a felon goes walking around with a firearm on their hip, in public, loaded or not?

He's a bit more of a civil libertarian than most Po Po I would guess.

In a letter sent a little more than two months ago from the president of thePhilly Fraternal Order of Police to the Philly Police Advisory Commission, the FOP president wrote it was “absolutely incredible that you would engage in any attempt to further weaken and demoralize the Philadelphia Police Department in a time of crisis with a significantly growing crime problem in this City. The danger your policy poses to our citizens is both reckless and inexcusable.” The Commission’s alleged attempt to weaken the Philly PD involved calling officers and telling them to apologize to civilians that have complained.

The Police Advisory Commission did not respond to the letter. Asked about it, the executive director, William Johnson, said: "the letter isn't factual in its content, so we're not going to engage in that."

The letter from the FOP president ended by claiming the Police Advisory Commission “poses a direct threat to public safety” in Philadelphia. Joel Mathis at Philly Magazine’s Philly Post blog interpreted the letter this way:
McNesby’s attitude, then, is that accountability—even toothless accountability—is dangerous, that citizens who demand it are a threat. This is scary stuff.

To be fair, Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey appears to be fighting these attitudes… But he’s fighting an uphill battle.

We in Philadelphia rightly and regularly lament the “stop snitching” culture that allows criminals to evade responsibility for their crimes. But we rarely talk about how that culture is perpetuated by the evident contempt of local cops for the city and residents they serve. The police don’t earn our trust just because they have a badge and a gun.

Philadelphia police hate Philadelphia. Their job might be easier—and we all might be safer—if they didn’t.

Meet Seattle PD Capt. Donnie Lowe. Last week, Capt. Lowe was arrested on domestic violence charges. He also has a prior DWI, a prior investigation for using excessive force against his own son in a jail cell, and improperly entering a private home. None of those prior incidents were enough to remove him from the force. In fact, back in 2009, just a couple months after his DWI, and well after the other incidents, then-lieutenant Lowe was assigned to head up a special Seattle PD security detail for President Obama’s inauguration. He has since been promoted.
Waaay to go Seattle!! But wait...
It gets better.

Lowe was one of 32 sworn and civilian members in the department assigned to carry out the so-called “20/20″ plan, created after the Justice Department found in December that Seattle police too often use excessive force.

So a guy with a history of reprimands for misconduct was given a leadership spot on a committee designed to address allegations of misconduct and misuse of force at Seattle PD.

Imagine how insanely drunk a cop would have to be in order for another cop to arrest him for a DWI. He must have passed out behind the wheel and crashed into city hall.

Steve Shubin, the Austin-based maker of the popular mens pleasure device known as the “Fleshlight,” was the subject of a fascinating profile in the Austin Chronicle last month. The focus of the story is Shubin's complete domination of the fake vagina market, but there's also a section about Shubin's days working for the Los Angeles Police Department; days he sorely misses, because he used to be able to slap and choke people:
If you'd told Steve Shubin circa the late Seventies that at 59 years old, he would be running a company that manufactures discrete artificial vaginas, he'd have laughed. Back then, Shubin was a member of the Los Angeles Police Department – he spent six of his seven years in the force on the SWAT team – and he loved it. "I used to joke when paychecks came in, 'I feel bad about taking this!' In college, I was a defensive lineman and linebacker, and I went right from there to the police academy and chasing bad guys – and I got paid for it! It was amazing."
Shubin gets giddy talking about being a cop. "I couldn't do it today," he says, but not just because he's 59. "Today, everybody's got a camera, and everybody's got a lawyer. Steve Shubin would be fired in a month." He describes his days as a cop as "the best job I ever had," and that's up to and including his current gig raking in a bazillion dollars by selling Fleshlights. Shubin gushes about it.
"If somebody needs their face slapped, they're getting their face slapped," he says, talking about his style of policing – but, he laments, "You can't do that anymore." He talks about this stuff so openly, I almost wonder if he remembers that my recorder is on. "I've killed people before. I've done everything. I have choked hundreds of people unconscious. Did I enjoy it? No," he says – and when he explains why not, he says that it's because a person who's choked out poops their pants. Why'd he stop? The pay was bad. "There wasn't much money in policing," he says.

Authorities say a central Pennsylvania police officer shot his wife in the buttocks as he was showing his department-issued gun to family and friends during a weekend cookout at his home.

Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico said Wednesday that the gun issued to Harrisburg Officer William Owens discharged and struck the officer's wife.

Officer Friendly has never heard of this "Constitution" you keep appealing to:
Police in Aurora, Colo., searching for suspected bank robbers stopped every car at an intersection, handcuffed all the adults and searched the cars, one of which they believed was carrying the suspect....

"We didn’t have a description, didn’t know race or gender or anything, so a split-second decision was made to stop all the cars at that intersection, and search for the armed robber,” Aurora police Officer Frank Fania told ABC News.

Officers barricaded the area, halting 19 cars....

From there, the police went from car to car, removing the passengers and handcuffing the adults....

The search lasted between an hour and a half and two hours, and it wasn’t until the final car was searched that police apprehended the suspect.
So how the fuck did they even identify the "bank robbers" if they "didn’t know race or gender or anything"? Did they find a giant bag of stolen money, or exploded ink packs?
“When they searched the car, they found two loaded firearms.”

Officer Friendly punches elderly judges in the throat

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/06/nyreg ... =1&_r=2&hp
Thomas D. Raffaele, a 69-year-old justice of the New York State Supreme Court, encountered a chaotic scene while walking down a Queens street with a friend: Two uniformed police officers stood over a shirtless man lying facedown on the pavement. The man’s hands were cuffed behind his back and he was screaming. A crowd jeered at the officers.

The judge, concerned the crowd was becoming unruly, called 911 and reported that the officers needed help. But within minutes, he said, one of the two officers became enraged — and the judge became his target. The officer screamed and cursed at the onlookers, some of whom were complaining about what they said was his violent treatment of the suspect, and then he focused on Justice Raffaele, who was wearing a T-shirt and jeans. The judge said the officer rushed forward and, using the upper edge of his hand, delivered a sharp blow to the judge’s throat that was like what he learned when he was trained in hand-to-hand combat in the Army.
Hopefully this faggot gets fired, but I'm sure he'll just get a paid vacation

Wish it were that easy Johno. I got a a visit from SPD recently, (hand on guns, stern urgent looks), at my doorstep on a sunny afternoon over reports of a bb gun in the neighborhood. a fucking bb gun.
(which by the way, is perfectly legal under the local codes and RCW to shoot in the city limits)

This urgen matter required two squad cars, which for the relatively upper mid class area I live comprises the sum total of the day to day police presence.

They repeatably asked the wife, not if we had a bb gun but, if we have any "weapons in the house". She had the presence of mind to say "thanks for the heads up, have a nice day" and shut the door in their face. If my bird dog would have been out in the yard, or worse yet, I'd have been home, I shudder to think.

While a shitty job, police work isn't even in the top 10 most dangerous professions. Plus, we pay them like we can't find anyone to take the job. However, upon any announcement that a local police force is hiring, there are hundreds of qualified applicants for each open job. People aren't stupid. LEO work is the ticket to an easy government jig, with lots of action abusing other peoples rights, and almost no civilian oversight or penalties for fucking up. It's no secret that that a LEO has to fuck up massively to get treated like an average citizen.

Also, If you believe LEO unions, rank and file officers, and their dick sucking supporters; you would think most LEO are engaged in daily gun fights ala Iraq or Afghanistan. The truth is, they are so unlikely to be involved in a gun fight during their careers, that when they do use their firearms they almost always display terrible firearm safety and judgement. However, we pay them better and give them better pensions than military that actually has a dangerous and stressful job.

Most members of the fraternal order are nothing more than jack booted thugs (or moral cowards) that are more than happy to put the boots to the average citizen if they get in their way. Constitutional rights? What the fuck are those? LEO routinely violate our constitutional rights and always close ranks around the perpetrators. Officer friendly is only doing his job and society a favor when he routinely lies to obtain warrants, illegally detains citizens, abuses them in custody, steals their property, conducts illegal searches and police the local community like an occupying army. Don't you fucking rubes understand? The anointed ones are in charge, and you'd better be fucking politically connected, rich, a member of another protected political class, or a LEO to avoid their rath.

I have a friend that is a Law enforcement officer and tells me all the time most are honest hard working civil servants. I tell him, that might true superficially, but where are these hard working civil servants when their own are out acting like fascist thugs? The abuses of authority and violations of our rights are routine are not the exception. Why are the boys and girls in blue silent and always protect heir own? Why the silence? Where is their outrage?

Their silence is damning.

Officer Friendly is a little liar....ooops. he got caught. The Judges opinion excerpted thusly...

What are the costs of teaching the community that law enforcement officers, whom ideally deserve the trust of the citizen, cannot be trusted to tell the simple truth? That no one is wearing the white hat anymore? That the ends justify the means? That the virtue of honesty is essential in our families and individual lives, but that same virtue is optional for the executive branch of our government in the exercise of its police powers? A nation founded on the notions we find in our Constitution is surely better than this.....

One is tangentially reminded of the story of the man who offered a woman one million dollars for sex. She agreed, which led him to ask if she would agree for ten dollars. She angrily asked: “What do you think I run?” He replied: “We know what you are. We are just haggling over price.” It is embarrassing, at best, in this or any other case to be haggling over the degree or extent of truthfulness in the testimony of an officer of law. We shame ourselves when we entertain the notion.

Um... I've got nothing.
http://washingtonexaminer.com/local/mar ... res-ballot
Montgomery County's police union used felons, including a fugitive and a man convicted of forgery, to collect signatures for a ballot measure that would kill legislation reducing police collective bargaining rights, court documents show.

The county cites the Fraternal Order of Police's use of felons among reasons why at least 6,700 of the 34,828 signatures validated by the County Board of Elections are insufficient to put the measure, protecting police officers' ability to negotiate any management decision, on the November ballot.

The felons were responsible for collecting signatures and certifying they were gathered legally.

According to a lawsuit filed in federal court, police in Minneapolis showed up at a home in search of a sex offender. The home was full of people, in town to attend a funeral. The police spotted the family’s pit bull, and opened fire on the dog. In the course of killing the dog, they shot the family’s other dog. In the hail of gunfire, a bullet fragment ricocheted and struck one of the officers. The police on the scene apparently mistook the ricochet for hostile gunfire, so they called in for backup. “Approximately 30″ cops responded to the call, and then retaliated by trashing the house and threatening the people inside.
If this account is true, it's a high water mark for Twin City goons.

You'll probably find a similar situation in any ballot measure signature drive-- those getting signatures are basically day laborers.
