Nice progress, bro. Now he's as strong as a high school sophomore.

Re: The couch thread
To be fair:
Bench 250
Squat 276
Dead 305
Press 129
Now, roughly a year later I weigh 213 and these are my numbers
Bench 285
Squat 332
Dead 360
Press 175
He would be fine to play high school football. I would think like a guard maybe...but at 213, we aren't looking for elite here. The press is just so sad in comparison. The Dl is really low but the squat is fine..But, the next level...it's a good discussion of "no."

This is the second incident in this area. The Brookyn Barbell Club is more commonly known as @fit Virtuosity.

To be fair, they were there before the fucking hipsters moved in next door.

So I dragged him by his filthy Converse sneakers to the batting cages and held his face in front of the 95mph fast ball machine until he was shitting baseballs. End of story."

Re: The couch thread
Probably been linked here already but a nice write up nonetheless. It's certainly more than the usual "type 3 bad words about @fit and sit back and see the hits come in" post even though that robs us of the brigade trying to counter.

Re: The couch thread
There are some folks who are legitimately weak. A coaches eye would help immensely, but most Crossfit trainers are only concerned about metcon progress, since that's their big emphasis.
Dude could just be an unfortunate who doesn't know how to train.
Me, on the other had, took a 125# soccer mom from an ugly 95# deadlift to 225# in about 5 months.

Re: The couch thread
A massive problem I see with CF box strength training programming is too much emphasis on 'effort' and 'hard'.

Re: The couch thread
I've got a buddy who's a hardcore kool aid swiller. We've talked about improving his strength but every time I tell him he's going to have to cut way back on the metcons he gets that 1,000 yard stare.
Re: The couch thread
Bench 285
Squat 332
Dead 360
Press 175
Are maxes or working weights?

Re: The couch thread
you guys are too harsh!
some guy added decent weight to his lifts, gained a little strenght, and probably kept decent conditioning while doing so
what more do you want?!

I started working with a college prof, 35 yo, and his bench is up to 95 lbs he says. 8kg kettlebells kill him.
