London 2012 thread

Post by odin »

Couldn't find a thread on this, and it may be more apt on the TF, but fuck it. Post here predictions, recommended viewing and other shite that interests armchair athletes.

First question; when does the judo start?

A good day's sport today.... 6 golds and consolidation of our status as best middle class sportsmen in the world. Anything that requires a public school education and vast amounts of money is cool with team GB.

The 10k was fucking awesome. It's also crazy what the world record is in the 10k.

To be honest I'd never heard of him. He wasn't even the main focus of our long jumpers, so bit of a surprise.

some moderately interesting quotations from alberto salazar, his two runners in the 10k (the gold and silver medalist), and to other americans.

Its pissing me off how they purposely try to keep the cameras above waist level as much as possible during the womens beach volleyball. I shouldn't have to watch for 10 minutes to see a specific ass.

I'm really happy to see the way team GB are doing. After running at fairly decent levels when I was younger I had thought young Brits were more into going clubbing and doing ecstasy rather than training but I'm glad to see I'm wrong.
Now, on a side note, We aren't going to catch the big two up so GO TEAM USA. Don't let the fucking chinks beat you.

His turn of pace was as good to watch as Mo's. Must feel pretty good when you and your training partner have just left the Africans standing.

They will roll and there will be rule changes as well.

Scissor sweeps were banned after one of their Nip champs got his leg broke and career ended by a Gijing with one.

Defending Olympic 50K race walk champion Alex Schwazer was caught doping in Italy and will miss the London Games.

The Italian Olympic Committee, also known as CONI, said Monday that Schwazer had been removed from the team.

I mean, I don't get why pot is illegal anyway.... but goddamn if an athlete is smoking some bud and is STILL at the top of his game, instead of banning him, give him a high five

You cannot watch that without thinking, at least for a moment, what would happen if a certain guy from Jamaica decided "hey, that looks fun - I want to try that for the next four or so years".
