I met a guy last Friday who was a victim of a home invasion last May. He said he lives south of 234 near the 7 eleven and dunkin donouhghts in a new area. 2 teens broke in and threatened him and his wife and threatened to put their baby in a freezer. I was picking up a rifle from a ffl and this guy was getting a glock for his wife. His wife is now pro firearms. My area doesn't have much crime, but I don't take any chances. My wife thinks I'm paranoid, but that's part of my job.
See, that's a nice, new development plopped right in the shit.
See why training aint a fucking sport folks?
Those people came across something they I bet thought only happend to other people infrequently. By you stating she's no pro gun, I reckon it was a wake up call.

Not always teen thugs. Last week 4 men broke into a local disabled man's house intent on stealing valuables kept in a safe. He keeps 3 guns in his recliner. Shot one in chest, who fell back and down stairs. While he was falling out the door, another bad guy unleashed a shotgun and hit the already wounded robber in the arm. Local disabled guy is a hero, but needs a bigger gun.

Normally, I miss the weather on your side of the Appalachians, but not now. It's too bad Congress isn't in session.
Good luck with the storm.

edit: I forgot to add, the 3 robbers dropped off the chest-shot guy on the front lawn of his g.f.'s house(after knocking on door), she takes him to hospital where police are waiting. After being so rudely dropped off, she ID's the other three low lifes. One of my daughter's relatives works in ER so she's there when he was brought in.

Works well with these

WTF is a "permit"?

Got out last night no problem. Decided to show up at work today instead of hanging around home waiting for the lights to go out. I'm ona break, just had filet mignon a cheesecake and an espresso. The bridges and tunnels are all closed so the company is putting me up tonight at thw Waldorf Towers.

In the great state of NY, you can't even have a handgun in your home w/o going through a permitting process. Forms, references, background checks, and a couple of hundred bucks. A carry permit depends on the county. In the county next to me, it's pretty easy. In mine it's almost impossible. Those of you in states allowing you the freedom to own handguns (or the very dangerous "sparkler" you may have played with as a child on Independence Day) may not relate to the protections provided to us by our masters.

Is it dead or a party with all the bridge & tunnel crowd spending the night in the city?

Sorry, it's not even hurricane strength and people knew about it a week in advance. Did all the people in these stories who have their cars underwater and such not hear the news?

Meh, those defender rounds sound all awesome and stuff, but who is breaking into your home with fucking body armor and riot gear that needs a slug plus a few heavy buckshots?? That stuff will tear through walls and potentially damage or kill god knows what in/around your home. Simple old bird shot to the chest will put a fucker down and not go through walls and hurt anyone or anything else unnecessarily. If you are really concerned get a side saddle and throw some of those rounds in the side for emergency, but I would hesitate to start off with that....
"I swear by my life and by my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine"
To me a shotgun is a combat (Looking for trouble) and perimeter defese weapon (Shit ouitside the huse, where those rounds are Boss, not what I keep for in the house trouble.
For many reason I prefer a handgun in the house. I like HP .230grain 45ACP because it does not tend to over penitrate and I don't want scatter in my house.
Fucker with or without a weapon grabs your kid and crouches down behind them,I'd hate for a shotgun (Unless pure slugs) to be in my hand but a1911 or a carbine and you have chances.
Rifles for out in nature and hitting things at a distance, shotguns and carbine for keeping people from touching your walls and carbines, pistols and hand to hand weapons for if they get inside the house.

Scanning this thread contemplating the shot vs. defender rounds in the Win 1300 (hey now..not my call, it was a baby shower gift) I scrolled up to note Ginger Beard Man is doing national disasters like a boss.
